ah, such arrogance...

"Here's the message to the rest of the AAC - we're tolerating you because we have no other choice."

news flash...that's the message from EVERY member school to the AAC...please don't act like your situation is unique.

if you are in a G5 conference, you want into a P5 conference...end of story.

that said, some of us want to make the best of what we've got...while others want to sit around and cry over the past.

the Big East..."Let us sit upon the ground and tell sad stories of the death of kings"

I don't think the ARROGANCE is here.

I think eliminating 39.4m people from this Power 5 mess is what the Poobahs have done. Do you really think having NO Public Universities in NY or New England makes sense. Syracuse & BC ... like your friends at Vandy ... have no appeal for large swaths of population beyond their zip code. This has been a powerful travesty distributing monies to markets/Universities that are in because they are in some conference & grandfathered; though not deserving. We are the National Champions ... in multiple sports actually. Pointing at our Football is just a temporary thing - for those above. This fanbase & this state won't be Rutgers ... or even Memphis ... that allows this to continue. Off with the AD or HC if it does. Football, however, is a fickle industry that takes some time to right.

Memphis was a pretty cool fan last year. Not sure what happened, maybe Kuran Iverson or girlfriend I don't know, but he certainly forgot who the fn visitor is and who the damn home team is.

Imagine UConn fans expressing pro-UConn thoughts on their own board, and some being a little whacked? Maybe divert back to yesteryear Memphis or stay home.

you guys had a down year, and got sour...I was, and still am thrilled for your success (as I root for all AAC programs)...but I also won't applaud as your tear down your conference mates and your home.

moreover, when did anti-AAC talk become pro-UConn talk?

We don't expect anything from you.

We don't even know why you're here - this would be easier on you if you didn't insist on parachuting your hayseed ass into every thread.

someone's taking things a bit personally...

life's tough, sunshine...

we went from the Metro that featured Memphis, Louisville, Cincy, Georgia Tech, Va Tech, South Carolina, Florida State, St Louis, Charlotte, VCU, etc.

to CUSA 2.0, playing Rice, UTEP, and Marshall.

don't expect any tears from me.

So your acknowledging there is a difference....kind of like exactly what this thread was about? Tulane is basically rice. SMU is utep. Ecu Marshall what's the difference.

Memphis is fine but this conference blows and we have zero history or interest in any of you.

Why was Tulane invited to join the conference? They are abysmal in both football and basketball. ECU helps football and Tulsa is apparently good at basketball. Why is Tulane here...

They're the only former CUSA addition with any semblance of academic dignity.

Because a trip to New Orleans is better than a trip to anywhere else in the conference.

Tulane has been much better than expected in hoops, they lose one marginal player off this year's roster and they have a good recruiting class, I also think they have a very good coach whom they need to sign long term. Because of the quality of their school and location I think Tulane can carve out a good hoops niche for itself.

And speaking of niche's, it doesn't take a genius to see that Orlando Antigua is carving out a great recruiting niche for USF with the Latin player. HUGE potential there.

I expected going from the Big East to the AAC to be unbearable, but the games have been just decent enough to be watchable...for a few years.

I cant stand the people on the board where if you bring up the slightest question of the team or conference you get attacked especially the posters that offer little to no argument other than you suck bye, questioning your fanhood.

Most posters or Uconn fans that watched the big east in its early days or throughout its evolution probably long like me for the old conference rivalries. I never meant that i was belittling the AAC teams. Its not their fault. I'm simply stating that the likes of UCF, ECU, Tulsa, ect are not as exciting as a conference with Gtwon, Cuse, Nova, Pitt, Louisville. I use to look at the schedule and be so pumped to watch a prime time game on ESPN with Uconn and whoever in the big east. Now im scrambling through the TV guide trying to find which channel is CBS sports 4 is to watch Uconn play.

Don't take it personally. Just about every day someone starts or hijacks a thread bashing the AAC. We were screwed. probably by our own administrators. This conference is light years from the BE. There is not yet the history with the few competitive teams to feel a sense of rivalry.
But complaining about it gets old. Insulting other teams (you did not) is counter-productive. Especially as we haven't exactly dominated this conference.
We sound like the guy complaining about their wife leaving them, years after the divorce.
Best we can do is win our games and support football

Scheduling well in the OOC is great but it still isn't the same feel, IMO. Playing against good teams in November and December, when college football and the NFL is still going on doesn't have the same intensity as a great games in February and March. Hell, we moved our game with Xavier to mid-Feb for that very reason. Looking down the stretch of our schedule and seeing games on CBSSN against Tulane, Tulsa and UCF is not appealing at all!

Tulane is in a position to become a top flight basketball program a la Georgetown.

Calipari/Memphis made a conscious effort to schedule a late season, marquee, OOC game...the Memphis vs Gonzaga contest has become a nice little rivalry for us.

UConn might try that...maybe schedule a BE team like Nova or Georgetown.

See, we just have different standards. We will not "rival" some a WCC team with no championships.

This was a left-jab-followed-by-a-right-uppercut of wrongness.

First, there's no way Tulsa is in a position to become Georgetown.

Second, how does someone search their brain for a 'top-flite' basketball program to compare Tulsa to and come up with Georgetown?

Exactly, I'm not letting some team that loses to a Canadian university dictate who should be on our non-conference schedule.

I was hoping psnow had a left handed delivery on an attempt at sarcasm here. I hope so at least.

Someday I'd love to understand how UConn fans mocking garbage programs hurts UConn.

Now message board respect towards second rate programs is a key metric in conference realignment?

That would leave everyone out of the P5.

where did I say you would be? I seem to remember saying you might try scheduling a BE team like Nova or Georgetown as a late season, marquee, OOC game.

reading is fundamental.
