Hurley vs. Memphis Crowd?

When they cut back from commercial during the second half, the announcers were talking about Hurley jawing at someone in the crowd. Video made it sure look like that was the case.

Any idea what the hell was going on?

I want to reserve judgment but I think I'd prefer my coach to be in the huddle and not fighting with other teams fans.

I think it entirely depends on what happened/what was said. There are some types of comments I can think of where I'd appreciate it if more coaches stood up for their players.

I think he caught fans saying unsavory things to his team. Looked like drunk middle age men yelling at his kids. I support what he did if he went over there to confront them.

Why was he even on the other side if the court? TO should be with his team. BTW not the first time jawing with opposing fans, did it in the garden with syracuse fans. To me if there is a problem you let the refs or security handle it, coach shouldn't involve himself.

Embarrassing for who? I love having a passionate coach who isn’t afraid to stand up for his players. Would you rather have last year’s staff that rarely got off the bench and looked disinterested?

Its amazing that UConn fans of all people are complaining about how intense Dan Hurley is on the sidelines during games. I guess they forgot about that guy Jim Calhoun who used to coach at UConn.

I agree. I love it as well. People always used to complain about the last coach for just sitting there sulking during games and never challenging the refs after bad calls.

I don’t know the facts but I would think something was said that was inappropriate or offensive to one of his players. More so than just razzing. If that’s the case then I applaud him for taking their back in this matter. The last think he needs is one of his players to get involved with a fan or fans. Like in real life away from the court a good boss backs up his workers and team members. You show them how much you need them then they will take notice and work hard for you. I think it’s just another way Hurley is molding the team and changing the culture.
It all looked pretty harmless as it was.

That’s my point. He seems to make himself smaller with the way he comports himself. I like his passion and his approach and I understand fully that you have to take the bad with the good. He just needs to pick his spots a little better imo.

I’m enjoying the narrative that he must be defending a player when almost certainly fans were killing him.
