Hurley Suspension? | Page 9 | The Boneyard

Hurley Suspension?

So your last comment means he’s learned from his past behavior, and I’d assume he does the same this time. He got caught up in the emotion of a game with a #1 seed at stake. Regardless, it didn’t affect the outcome.
They can still get the 1 seed. There's a whole tournament to play for them AND Florida
Calhoun always seemed more in control than Hurley is and he blasted the refs for sure but he didn’t fly off the handle. There is a difference. I can’t even imagine him getting Teed up with under a second to go and basically chest bumping an official. I go back to the Villanova game several years ago when he got a T then started urging the crowd to get involved and got bounced. Or getting a T late in another game that snuffed out a comeback. I always felt that 99 times out of 100 Calhoun’s histrionics were calculated. Hurley’s seem out of control. Bob Knight is the comp I see. Gets out of control at times. He has been better this year but lost it again.
I think Hurley was sending a message.

Does anyone know if Dan Hurley has a bonus for winning the Big East in his contract and if so, how much it is? If so, between that and the $25k fine, a costly lose for him.

It’s not a foul ever. Gold went straight up and his hand came down after the play, not even sure if it had any contact anyway, but you’re never getting a call there. Good drive and take by Silas but just didn’t go in. Nothing you can do, Dan severely overreacted.
That’s not the point. In real time, you don’t have the benefit of multiple replays and camera angles like all the viewers at home do. TBH, I initially thought Gold’s hands came down on Silas and it was a foul, but that’s beside the point. Hurley was reacting in the moment caught up in the frenzy, plain and simple. I'm sure if you ever played ball you would know this. Oh! BTW, Yes you are correct 9 times out 10 that will not get called.

You can’t get caught up like that, no excuse for that behavior. Sure I played and Lord knows never to this level, but no matter he needed to be a better man. And Shaka deserved a handshake as well as a congrats.

It’s over, we all need to move on.

.-.
The MQ drive that gave Reed his 4th foul was less contact than Silas on his drive at the end of the game. I think Hurley was saying to the ref you cant make or not make a call based on how much time is on the clock. We did not play well enough but that contact draws a foul 90% of the time. Reibe had one called on him earlier in the game at that end of the court.

I don't know, I think there was a couple of molecules of space between him and the ref.
But -bombs and -er were more than enough to warrant his expulsion and fine.

Stop justifying his behavior. It’s tiresome, embarrassing, and juvenile. Let’s not forget that university presidents, not ADs or coaches, ultimately have the power to affirm or deny admission into a conference. Does anyone think Hurley’s behavior enhances our reputation?

John Gaffney a couple years ago bad mouthed Hurley during the offseason. If Hurley’s conduct was unprofessional, Gaffney’s lack of professionalism is worse. Val Ackerman is a disgrace. Gaffney is filled with bias every UConn game - he bumps into fairness.

If there was contact it was incidental, very hard to tell from video. The lack of honestly by Ackerman acting like it’s intentional is disgraceful. No way should there be 2 technicals since if it happened it was minor unintentional contact. If Hurley intentionally made contact it would have definitely had an impact it clearly did not have.

Gaffney is very unprofessional and a lier. Ackerman is just incompetent as she was in her WNBA role. Her office needs to be investigated and she should be terminated.

Dan Hurley is not going to get us in (or barred from) a conference. That’s football performance alone.

What did Gaffney lie about?

Hurley clearly should not have made contact, but maybe if the Big East actually reprimanded refs for inconsistency or bad calls on occasion Hurley wouldn't fly off the handle as much.

Some bad calls at the end including Smart coming onto the floor during the game and pushing his player. I believe Hurley was whistled for the same thing in the championship game against Purdue. It's a pretty easy call and I can't see how 1 of 3 refs on the floor couldn't see it. Then the no call on the Demary drive where it was called a tie up when the defender clearly had his arms around Silas's arms.

As some have pointed out, Gaffney has been critical of Hurley. Don't seem like he can separate his dislike for Hurley on the court and I don't get why the Big East lets him do a single UConn game.

I think the point of the explosion was, reverse situation and they blow the whistle on UConn

How many times in this game alone did Marquette drive, throw up a shot that missed, we grabbed the rebound and only then did they blow the whistle after we had the ball in our hands. I counted at least 2.
Zero. Never happened

I didn't watch the game, not one person who did said Silas wasn't fouled

My son said he screamed and 1, was disappointed the shot didn't go in and was shocked there was a no call

I don't care if Hurley's suspended, something has to wake this team up
I watched. Didn't look like a foul to me

Wow. Relax. It was pretty transparently a joke.

What about when they’re 0-7…. How about stopping at that point?? At what point do you figure out you don’t have it tonight and change up the plan. The ball should have went into Tarris every single possession but no we jack up 30+ 3s against a team that has absolutely no inside presence whatsoever. Complete madness.
If someone is a good shooter, you never stop them from shooting because of however many they've missed. Because you have no idea when they'll start hitting again
