Hurley is the best coach in the sport right now

Bob Hurley Senior had 12 back to back titles, and a 155 game winning streak.

Hurley turned St. Benedict's into a national powerhouse and went 223–21 over nine seasons. I wonder what his record would look like if he was still there 14 years later.

I guess you weren't an English teacher because you don't know what pronouns refer to what.

Your statement would mean something if I were actually a UMass fan. And you can't find one post in 28 years of The Boneyard where I claimed to or even pretended to be a UMass fan.

As to your "success" comment - I coached for 30 years, including four state champs.

If you're not gonna count tournament results, then Hurley is a subpar coach.

Note: I count tournament results.
Who has stolen Temery’s handle? Or pissed in his Cheerios?? Very odd position to be taking on the precipice of another FF and already a 3rd 30 win season in 4 years NCAA tourney be damned).

Obviously UMass fans don't like to disclose they're UMass fans. But we know.

I accept your surrender. You can now return to correcting spelling, punctuation, and grammar in boneyard posts.

Which in this case you objectively are not

Just a taste of your past 6 pages of posts:

A truly remarkable record and legacy that, merely as a matter of demonstrable fact, does not involve a present day coach...even leaving aside that he coached high school and not college.

I like this thread a lot.

If you're at the top of your field, you're at the top of your field. He passed up endless number of opportunities to coach at a higher level.

Thanks. And I will accept your surrender also and you can go back to asking really dumb questions about UConn men's basketball that you should know since you spend so much time on here. Or starting some thread about a home improvement project or advice on a piece of yard equipment. I guess I shouldn't judge. When I'm as old as you are one day I might be like that too.

And yes, I know your opinion on Hurley is just a schtick. You should keep it up. I wouldn't expect a UMass fan to like Hurley anyway, even if it's just a schtick.

Yeah, you know what you call people who say "we were a basket away from defeating the eventual champions"? Losers.

There is one just about every tournament.
Actually, we were the only team that came with a basket of defeating Florida in the NCAAs. But you're right, even second place is just the first place loser.

You may not like his style, but you can't argue with the results. If he can win Sunday, this will be quite the 3 year bender even if he goes no further.

Every UConn fan remembers Tate George's shot in 1990. I don't see too many people talking about what happened in the next game.

That's awesome. You couldn't even find one post of mine that even hinted at my being a human ass fan, could you?

Edit: i'm not even gonna change this post because voice to text changed UMass fan to "human ass fan," which is far better. You are the board self proclaimed spellcheck editor. Enjoy.

That's not true. UConn didn't have the ball with a chance to take the lead after like the 2 minute mark.

Houston was up 12 (UConn never more than 6), was leading under a minute left, and had the ball down 2 and didn't get a shot off. They still only lost by a bucket...but, like really, not on a McNeeley meaningless shot.

The only thing I spell check is our player's names. I really don't think it's asking too much. Do you spell your family member's names right? I guess when I'm as old and frail as you are one day I may have the same problems. Enjoy Amherst next season. It is a fun town.

Best coaching success the last 4 years, of course. Throw in the fact that he doesn’t get 4 McDonald's all Americans every year or 22 million in NIL $ further bolsters his case.

But he only has 8 years of high major coaching on his resume. So when you say best coach in the sport, we are talking about guys with 30 years, 10+ sweet 16s, and multiple final 4s. Pitino, Izzy, Self, etc.

Best coach last 4 years, sure.

Aside from the fact that it's not quite what I said (tournament results are only part of it), that's just actively wrong. A sub-par coach doesn't take three different programs at three different levels that had all been mired in losing seasons and turn them around to winning teams.

My insistence on that is because Jon Scheyer, for instance, has many Sweet 16s and E8s as Hurley, but the fact that Hurley not only has titles (Scheyer does not yet), but had to win—and did win—at the lowest levels (rather than being gifted the job) tells me he's a better coach.

Hurley has accomplished a lot even not taking the NCAAs into account. Obviously if he kept losing in the first round at UConn I might agree he met his match, but you're underselling what he's done.
My fav way to compare is to look at what would happen if coaches switched teams. How far would Scheyer get with our guys and how far would Dan Hurley get with his

Now factor in where the programs were when each took over and it’s not even close

We are so fortunate to have Dan Hurley. He resurrected this program. He established a winning culture. He turned down every marquee job in the basketball world. No ncaa violations like most in the coaching fraternity. Worked his way up from high school coaching to the pinnacle of the sport. All while being a man of faith, devoted husband and father.

But sometimes he yells at refs which is too much /s
Is their a such thing as NCAA violations anymore?
