Hurley is the best coach in the sport right now

.-.
A couple months ago I was thinking that UConn has had quite a few special moments with buzzer beaters and last second shots especially in the Coach Calhoun era, but not yet in the Hurley era. I refrained from posting as I didn't want it to backfire. Well, now we got something amazing for Coach Hurley !

Lets get back to the basics now, and win another NC !

Ok I’ll be the one to ask: what on earth is Hurley doing with the official walking over to the table?

Probably making sure of how much time was being put back on the clock / how much time they would say Duke had left for their final inbounds play. There is a big difference in what you can do between .4 seconds and 1.0 seconds. Just ask Tate George.

Look up the "Trent Tucker Rule" for more context.

They will allow a catch and shoot with a minimum of .4 seconds, but I don't think they will allow a turnaround, catch and shoot in that time, which is what Duke would have needed to execute on that last inbounds play.

As much as he seems to lose his head at times, Danny is actually one of the best at keeping his mind on all of the details of each situation as it presents itself.

For example: you do realize that UConn works on the half court buzzer beater shot every day at practice? Braylon mentioned it in one of his interviews... and he also admitted he missed his at the end of yesterday morning's shoot around. 🤣

I think he meant the part where Hurley leaned right into the official's face without saying a word

You got all that from him staring into the official’s face from a half inch away with a crazed look on his face?

Ahhh, got it. I thought he was referring to something else. I know the moment he is referring to now. Thanks for the head's up. I thought he was referring to a few moments later as the refs were deciding on how much time to put back on the clock. It would have been huge (and also incorrect, from watching the highlights) if they had given Duke any more additional time than that one additional .1 second. The ball went through the net at 0.4 seconds, so that was the correct time to set it back to.

This is a good question, particularly since Danny almost butted heads with him, which would have been a huge mistake.
