Hurley’s complaints way overdue

It was Pete Carrol and the legion of boom
Belichick’s defenses against the Colts offenses in the early 2000s played very physically, including during the routes. The Colts complained incessantly to the league, and were primarily responsible for getting the illegal contact rule implemented.

.-.
I was amazed he held off so long after having Moore mugging everyone in front of him without a call. And I don’t even mind telling the stiff “……don’t turn your back on me.”
What came after that was ridiculous.

I've never coached, I haven't read the NCAA rule book. But I have watched quite a bit of MCBB, and in games where I have no preference to the outcome I have concluded anymore, that I have no idea what constitutes a foul, a charge or a block, an illegal screen etc. The refs in all leagues have become so inconsistent that it causes me to question the conspiracy theories like this.

As a UConn fan, I'm looking at the the non calls that I see all too often committed by the team we're playing against. I objectively think the refs are using two different sets of eyes at the other end of the court. I don't know if its ineptitude or dishonest effort, but it's undeniably happening.
Anecdotally for me at least, zebra competency has decreased a level. You see it in football as well.

So we want special calls for us because of our style of play?
No, no we don’t want special calls and that’s not what he’s saying. You’re trying way too hard to prove a point when in fact the clips include both a combination of touches that I agree would be soft if called, and others that are blatant holds and obvious fouls. It’s ok if more generally you think complaining about it is soft, but don’t pretend you don’t see some of them and in the process of pretending deny it’s happening.

The moving screens are the worst. They also call traveling when I guy catches ball then goes. The only time they don’t travel.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect all or most of those in the clip to be called. But literally 0 of them were called.

If you want to say some of them should be a foul okay. But it’s not so egregious to cry about like this and have the storrscentral page make a highlight clip out of it.

Hurley has called the team soft and entitled recently and maybe he needs to look in the mirror on why they may play that way.

From a purely psychodynamic pov, there most likely is bias.
Hurleys antics havent gone unnoticed by the refs and some probably don't like him. They try to call the game fairly, but in a knee jerk situation, like in-game reffing, it is instinct for these refs. Just like a teacher will subconsciously assume that the class clown is misbehaving when he really isn't the refs may have a subconscious bias against Dan Hurley. They are human.
For example: if you were bullied by a kid named greg in grade school, any greg you meet after that you won't like so much. For no real reason.

And you know what, if we’re being held that bad teach guys how to attack those kind of things. Do rip throughs, swims, anything to get a release. In every one of those clips our guys just let themselves get touched (even though it is marginal).

Attacking those kind of things also bring attention to it to get called.
Do you really think thats not being discussed/taught?

Multiple comments in this thread saying we want the rule book enforced or call it consistently on both sides, be careful what you wish for or Samson will be back to foul trouble every game and averaging 12 mins a game cause it can't stay in the court. Reed won't be far behind him
