HFS…Solo out next year with a wrist injury

Love Solo, another Huskies warrior. Nobody is more bummed than he is. Obviously, this is what's best for him

FWIW-Think Solo will be a great mentor to new guys/portal adds re: the Husky Way of doing things. Will be a strong influence in the locker room. Get healthy- Show these young dudes how to chase rings.
Gives Hurley one more year of title experience, too, regardless if they win this year or next.

And just like that every off-season move at the 2 and 3 spot makes sense.

Demary
Mullins
Ross
Kahemenia
Hines

Great starting 5.

The quality of that starting 5 depends massively on how much Hines and Khamenia improve - and Jayden too. They combined for like 18 ppg last year and you are now having to replace scoring production from Reed, Ball and Karaban (40+ ppg).

Honestly...is it? Lots of question marks here. You are asking 3 guys to make SIGNIFCANT jumps in playing time and production.

I don't love it as it stands.
Let it breath - staff isn't done. Expecting more moves. This should free up considerably NIL. The St M PF is on the board, as is this Charleston 5.

Honestly, could all land as really great for the program. I can see Solo bringing a lot more value into his 5th year than this upcoming year. Mullins is so much more valuable as a 2. The biggest question now is how they backup the 2.

wonder if stewie made

We are out on Murauskas.

4 more transfers pls.

SG Colben Landrew

C Najai Hines
Paulius Murauskas makes a lot of sense as a stretch forward. A few twitter accounts have linked us. Hurley has a great relationship with the St Mary’s coach.

I am very much okay with getting those five in to Werth every day and seeing where UConn will be with them next April.

Others feel differently. So be it.

I do want more depth at 4/5, back up PG, and any 2/3 who can shoot.

Like I'm seriously asking, is this a realistic possibility now?
Possible, yes. will it happen, no.

He wants guaranteed playing time. He knows that's not part of the UConn culture and that Hurley can't promise that.

He's not gonna come back to be in as 4-way battle (Ross/Landrew/NK/Stewart) to start at the 3 or 4 in position.

With Solo are there are less bodies in the battle than yesterday, but still not ideal.

I check the Yard almost every 5 minutes . Nothing all day, then I leave work and go home, check and see this ! Wow. I saw a post on Facebook last week from Zanetto saying Solo needs wrist surgery but just ignored that ....

I broke my wrist once and it took 4-5 months to get fully rehabed and range of motion back. I can see why it would be a long recovery but also assume it was better to come back healthy and not mid season and struggle. Better for both sides.

Today is April 20, not April 1.

I hope it all works out. That's tough for Solo but I'm sure he'll be ready to make a big impression when he returns. I also hope there are some portal players we have our eyes on.

Shame on you so-called "UConn fans". You guys always made fun of Solo, called him trash, and beat on him all during the season. . Guy was obviously battling all season with the wrist but you all trashed on him. Wish you a safe recovery, Solo, and be ready to carry UConn to a title in 2027.
PREACH

I don't see it. We are going to be looking for Combo guard in the portal even if County can give us a few minutes at the 1 or 2. We need someone who penetrate and is athletic at the guard now.
Add shooting as well. Lose a lot of that with Solo

You should also ask for a trillion dollars to be deposited in your bank account. Equal chance of happening.

I’m so upset. What a warrior to fight through that all year and the fans were on him so hard. I love solo.

Does this means Mullins starts at the 2 and Ross or Landrew start at the 3?
I think Hurley will now look to get a big-time 4 from the portal. With Solo out for the season, does he get reduced NIL which we can use toward getting a PF?

The next time I hear a Michigan guy was hurt in that game as an excuse for why they needed + 13 at the FT line to to beat us I’m going to scream . . We had two of are normal starters play while requiring surgery after the season . One so badly he is missing an entire year .
I was so tired of the announcers going on and on about Lendeborg's injury, and now we know that not 1, not 2, but 3 of our starters were playing hurt, some with significant injuries. They were the true warriors.

I think any reasonable person could surmise that he had to be injured. You don't go from shooting 40% from 3 to 30% the next season. It just doesn't happen.

.-.
Was this just complete mishandling of an injury by our staff on a wrist that was evidently beyond messed up?
For all we know he was told that surgery would be necessary and once he had it he'd need to sit for 10-12 months and if he could tolerate the pain he could play on it.

We don't know enough about it to claim the situation was mishandled

Imagine the ovation for Solo's first game back in '27.
Thinking positively here, he has to preserve eligibility for a full year of being healthy but if they change the rules by then and allow a 5th year, I would hope we could potentially see Solo make an appearance in say...late February 2027, just in time to bolster the bench for March.

I knew when Borges said Solo was "working through some things" it sounded ominous. Damn didn't think it was this bad. So sad for him. Get healthy Solo!

With how bad his wrist was all year, clearly not just a “sprain”, I’m not surprised it needed surgery. To shoot 30% from three with a wrist that bad is actually quite remarkable. Does make me wonder if it was a fracture of a particular common variety that failed to heal properly. If that’s the case even more amazing.

Never heard of a year long wrist injury.

But I’m sure he probably wants to have the most productive senior year possible. Probably wouldn’t happen if he has to sit out the summer recovering and then work his way back into a very competitive lineup.
It happens in baseball, it's possible. & if it requires surgery you know it's serious.
