Trap or not, UConn needs the money and we aren't cutting it right now. I'll gladly take an ACC invite on this fantasy world we are building. Anything that multiplies our current income by a lot is a move you make in a heartbeat
Going to the ACC would be a no-brainer even though it's going to be raided within the next decade. It just means we're going into it knowing that it is going to fall apart soon

Question, ESPN has the media rights for the SEC and the ACC. Who's to say they can't figure out the money situation if FSU and Clemson both left for the SEC?

Whatever happens, I am looking forward to the upcoming Pac 12 vs Big 12 raiding war.

Have to give the edge to the Pac 12 there, but we will see,

I would have to imagine Pac draws in Big 12 schools. I mean as is, Oregon, Washington, UA, Stanford all have bigger athletic profiles than any remaining Big 12 school.

Let's say we do get 2 super conferences with 20 teams...

Current or Future SEC:
1. Alabama
2. Auburn
3. Florida
4. Arkansas
5. Missouri
6. South Carolina
7. Georgia
8. Tennessee
9. Vanderbilt
10. Texas A&M
11. Ole Miss
12. Miss State
13. Kentucky
14. LSU
15. Oklahoma (joining in 24)
16. Texas (joining in 24)
New Teams:
1.
2.
3.
4.

Current or Future BIG:
1. Ohio St
2. Michigan
3. Michigan State
4. Indiana
5. Penn State
6. Nebraska
7. Illinois
8. Northwestern
9. Minnesota
10. Maryland
11. Iowa
12. Wisconsin
13. Purdue
14. Rutgers
15. USC (joining in 24)
16. UCLA (joining in 24)
New Teams:
1
2
3
4

Top options to move:

Definite Appeal: Clemson, Miami, Florida State, Notre Dame

Not sure who else would be filling.

It's all football driven -- basketball will have very little to do with this.

Well, you could pencil in Florida St, Clemson, WVU and UCF for the top one.

It won't matter, any movements like that will just be stopgaps.

Not sure how reliable this guy is (I’ve seen debates on here in the past) but still….

Wouldn't be hard to do. 18 game minimum for hoops. Home and home in division and x1 on the flip end. If you want to bring conference games to 20 have two permanent cross overs.

For non-revenue sports you mostly play round robin in your division and meet somewhere for the conference championship

East Division

PeeCee
UConn
SJU
SHU
Nover
Gtown

West Division

Kansas
Creighton
Xavier
Butler
DePaul
Marquette

I think the biggest road block with SEC expansion is convincing Florida and (to a lesser extent) South Carolina, to take another team from the same state / market. If they clear that hurdle though, the 2 team mega conferences are all but done.

If I was the Big10 I'd take those 4 "definite appeal" schools you listed to stake claim in all corners of the country with the best available southern schools. Would be a big move because idk how appealing UNC / UVA / Louisville / WVU are to the SEC... Not sure how the SEC then gets to 20 without going west (ASU / UA / Oregon / Stanford ?)

ACC is in deep trouble. Those football schools aren’t going to stick around for 15 more years til the GOR expires

The most amazing thing in all this is that if you consider all of realignment, the true winner is one of the least accomplished athletic programs ever - Rutgers.

Right now, we’re the polar opposite and the decision was set in stone when someone decided that the NYC DMA should dip south and only far north enough to put Connecticut’s most populated area in the same region as the Rutgers campus.

I would think USC, UCLA, Cal, and Stanford are a package deal.
as a Cal football fan i hope so but at the same time, no one gives a crap about them. maybe the UC regents can block ucla from moving unless they agree to take cal...idk

Not even sure they will get to the road block…what does Clemson or FSU do for the SEC in terms of media rights? Not much.

Now, adding schools in NC and VA - that’s another story.

But again, the GOR makes that academic for a long time.

that depends on 2 things
1. Will Stamford and Cal also go to the B1G as both with be great adds . If so the PAC is dead . CaL and UCLA are branches of the Same School and Stamford is far an away the most prestigious academic institution playing big time sports. Suck on it ND, and Michigan
if that happen
2. ASU, and Uof A are better fits for the B12 than a Pacific Northwest based conference
Utah ? and Colorado are both up in the air.
Number one is the key to which way this go’s .

Everytime I try to breakaway from Conference realignment,I keep getting sucked in.

SEC might just want them so the BIG 10 can't have any representatives in their footprint and they can own the entire southern half of the country out to California (aka, the states where populations are moving to...)

Are the B1G and $EC going to start kicking out the worthless schools (Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Rutgers, Minnesota, Mississippi St, etc) when they try to raid the top dogs of the ACC and PAC?
