**Head's Up ~ Potential Game Time change for USF Game**

Lose-lose at this point. If we win it'll be because they're distracted and we'll be monsters for beating them. Inconsequential really though.

True and true, but then again, those points may all be forgotten after the next hurricane which is literally around the corner in Jose.

I doubt they're flying back right after the game. UConn needs to, and I'm sure will make accomodations for the team. More likely headed back Monday if they can find a slot to land. Family members planning to fly up probably still have that option on Friday if they want to risk being here for a few days. I'm not sure I understand the need to even be discussing a cancellation. They are all safer here. As a matter of fact my family just scrambled to get her mom from Boca to DC or CT. They want to do the opposite by rushing back? It's the "We have to do something" mindset so now they have an option to get back. It's a bad option but at least they have it.

Ehh, guess they had to do it this way. Too late to move it up to a Thursday/Friday game. And neither team has a mutual bye week until December 2nd weekend (weekend after the conference regular season is done and they're playing the AAC title game). Other than cancelling the game altogether, it's all they could do.

>>The move was made in coordination with both universities and the conference office to allow USF adequate time to safely return to the USF campus ahead of the advance of Hurricane Irma.

"For the past several days, I have been monitoring the potential impacts of Hurricane Irma and consulting with our university leadership, outside agencies, the University of Connecticut and the leadership of the American Athletic Conference," USF Director of Athletics Mark Harlan said. "At this time, based on the current forecast, we believe that we can travel safely to and from Connecticut for the game. We have alternate return plans should conditions deteriorate faster than expected, and we greatly appreciate the University of Connecticut working with us during this time. <<

Huh?

I am not going to understand the time change no matter who explains it to me.

Safe travels to all!

Am I the only one who thinks this is very strange? I could see if they switched it to Friday evening, but switching it to 10:30 am makes zero sense to me.

I am glad they are playing the game and hope that Florida and the US some how miss Irma all together

Kegs & Eggs

I am driving from Jacksonville to Sarasota tonight to avoid this storm. It's really crazy here - that's why USF is all over the place. Gas runs, no bottled water, etc and the storm is DAYS out. Everyone is spooked, hotels are booked up into the Atlanta area. Bad vibes.

More clarity on decision process - not a UConn call.

"It wouldn't necessarily be a terrible thing, from the standpoint of health and safety, for the USF football team and the travel party to get stuck in Connecticut, because it would be safe. But there are a lot of things that are going to be going down in Florida that a lot of those people are going want to be much closer to."

Really, a 10:30am start? This stinks. I gotta coach my kids soccer game at 10:00. . Probably not worth even trying to get there afterwords. Is it at least on TV?

I can't believe some of the stuff I have seen in this thread. I'm with NY-TF1 Traveling from Texas and Harvey east bound through Mississippi headed to stage for Irma hitting Florida. One of my former coworkers and friends is hunkered down in San Juan and reports from him are that Irma is epic and extremely bad and destructive. If David benedict was able to start the game early and get USF back on a plane headed home on Saturday good for him. The destruction left in the wake of these storms is the likes of which most of us have never seen. I'm sure there is a worry about not being able to get the USF program back to Tampa for a while after the storm so they want to hustle them in before which looks like the plan.

Be safe @FDNY99

I think this is the pinnacle of bubble wrapped snowflake thinking but there is one logical justification. If TPA is closed for an extended period of time due to damage or if it is being used to airlift disaster relief then they may not be able to get home at all after the storm hits Tampa on Sunday. A noon start probably puts them home around 8-9 pm Sat. Getting home 6-7 might make a big difference.
