Its Uconn and Baylor and then everyone else this year! Mulkey made me laugh when she put her kid into the game in the first half. It looked like a high school player trying to play division 1 Bball. I do not think she completed a pass before kim took her back out.

Kim must be blinded by love...Robertson has no business playing in this game.

Let's see if the wunderkind Mitchell comes up with any adjustments to help his team in the second half.

I'm not counting on it.
He's going to have them try shooting at the other end of the floor.

He needs a helicopter . . . to get out of Waco.

I can see why Kentucky is a pressing, breaking team. They have little in the way of a half court offense and they haven't a clue on how to switch on defense.

Odyssey is a hot head...if I'm Geno, I'm already preparing to have Kelly, Moriah and Brianna get her to blow her cork...the only question I'd have is do I show all my cards in the first game...

.-.
This was predictable. After Baylor and Uconn, the field is pretty weak this year. Kentucky was woefully inconsistent last season. Their best moment was playing an immature Uconn team tight for a half.

Anyone still think this Kentucky team would give this years Uconn team a good game?

If I had to pick the 3 players to watch this season I agree with 2 of them, Griner and Della Donne. Diggins? Really?? I dont get ESPN's position on her greatness. Anyone else?

Is Baylor short-handed? With Robertson looking totally inept and Prince limited in minutes they are really a 7 man rotation tonight. Is somebody missing? Only 6 bench points midway through the 2nd half? (A great 7 though)

Geno isn't wired to hold back and ambush later. That's not the mentality he wants in his teams, and it's not a brand of basketball he can tolerate watching. Uconn will always play its best game. It may not be good enough, but it will nevertheless be max effort.

I think Kentucky quit at about the 8 minute mark of the first half when they went down about 25. It was visible and they looked defeated!

Surprised by Baylor's short bench. This could bode very well for Uconn in our future match ups!!!

Kentucky can not hit the broad side of the barn!!!!! What is their shooting %. It must really suck!

AA Mathis is 3 of 18. Kind of explains Kentucky's failure to compete!

Well I must say, Kentucky looked really bad. Even when Griner wasn't in there.

Hi ALEX: wow, hope you are right about the rest of the field. Though I'm no student of the other teams, I always have the feeling that several of them are quite formidable. And next year and beyond as well. Always up for reassurance:)

Haven't been and will not be watching....what has Walker been showing, pro and con?

I didn't see much from Samarie, and I'm not one of her 'detractors' here on the BY (for lack of a better word). IMO she hasn't improved much on the offensive end. She did look quicker and more assertive than in the past. On the defensive end, against the now upperclassman Griner, she was not able to emulate her success from 2 yrs ago. Griner is much changed. Samarie, to my eye, not so much.

Some posters mentioned she was doing a good/decent job on Griner early. I didn't pick up the action until about 6 or 7 minutes into the game.

Thank goodness that game is over. Kentucky played out of control, undisiplined, no defense, no team ball, and looked like a bunch of kids playing street ball with all the turnovers, missed passes, and just some crazy plays. This team needs alot of work.

Yes Samarie was only effective pushing Griner around for the first few minutes. Then Griner started getting inside and the show was over for Samarie. Also she looked horrible from the perimeter. Maybe an off game but I don't recall her having a big rep from outside anyway.
Besides the lack of offense from KY they had WAY too many turnovers (Some unforced). That "40 minutes of terror" defense or whatever Mitchell calls it could use a good 20 minutes of running offense in each game too! :p

I'm just wondering if the 4 UConn bigs in platoons of 2 and even 3 at a time can bother Griner enough so that the rest of the UConn team can dominate. I imagine that's the theory. Griner made some wonderful moves in the 2nd half that i caught. But she simply is not being challenged by the opposition yet.
