Can’t wait to see who auburn is gonna get that is going to be such an upgrade to justify that buyout. Also good luck finding someone who will get 3 wins against bama in eight years.

Dude is worth way more than Burton.

Which is why he and the others in his circle (mostly family business owners like Rane) are able to indulge their delusions. From what I heard yesterday it only took 7 phone calls, between Thanksgiving and last Monday, to raise the Malzhan buyout and an additional $5M to help defray the cost of getting a replacement who may have to be bought out of his current position.

Delusions are strong amongst plenty of fanbases. Many of our own think Cincinnati has a superior market to UConn.

And that's part of the problem. Burton is small change in the world of collegiate boosters. Having him as your biggest influencer vice some of the ultra wealthy living in the state and as UConn alums, isn't the best.

Just looking up Jimmy Rane, aka Mr. Yella Wood, he's somewhere about $1B net worth.

Same last year when FSU fired Taggart and bought him out. Sara Blakely, aka Mrs. Spanx, is worth about $1B.

And these boosters view college football the way some ultra wealthy view their yachts, houses around the world or club memberships. It's a status symbol to them.

Wish UConn football could get some backing from Bob Kauffman and Doug Bernstein. Need that discount furniture and toys and puzzles money.

Speaking of boosters, what is the chance that Byron sends a couple mil our way in the near future?

Phil Knight went nuts over at Oregon. They'll probably rename the field after him, post-mortem.

Hopefully none. Byron should have higher priorities with investing his money
Our fanbase's collective IQ will go down when invited into the ACC or the B1G, anyway. The basketball only fans are already proof.
