How’d he do against Georgetown?
How’d he do against Georgetown 5 days ago, doesn’t that count?
How’d he do against Georgetown?
The best thing about freshmen? They become sophomores. Expect to see a more comfortable and vastly improved player next season. You mean our next lottery pick??
By what metric is Polley contributing more? That’s not saying he shouldn’t play but he’s only contributing, not moreHawkins has terrible handles right now.
I like his hustle on d lately and he was unlucky his threes weren’t falling yesterday but Polley is definitely contributing more at this point, easy decision for the second half.
Neither can Gaffand he can’t dribble
Even if you count Georgetown over the past 5 games he’s hitting 20% of his three’s, if you don’t count Georgetown, he was only hitting 11% over the other 4 games. Much earlier in the season the kid was more or less automatic. One thing I haven’t been able to find are his stats from the corners vs the rest of the perimeter. How’d he do against Georgetown 5 days ago, doesn’t that count?
It appears that progress is not linear.Even if you count Georgetown over the past 5 games he’s hitting 20% of his three’s, if you don’t count Georgetown, he was only hitting 11% over the other 4 games. Much earlier in the season the kid was more or less automatic.
Even when his three point shot is off, he definitely contributes and scores in other ways. This whole debate with Hawkins’ playing time wouldn’t be an issue if our upperclassmen would contribute like they should
We are 15 - 4. Who are these upper classmen who aren't contributing? I guess you can argue Gaffney. This whole debate with Hawkins’ playing time wouldn’t be an issue if our upperclassmen would contribute like they should
and he can’t dribble
He's scoring more. He's rebounding better than Hawkins. Their defense is about even, slight edge to Polley. Some nice dimes by Hawkins the other night but neither is really a creator. Polley's handle is fine, Hawkins right now is a guard who can't be trusted to dribble.By what metric is Polley contributing more? That’s not saying he shouldn’t play but he’s only contributing, not more
OOOPS!! I think I posted their overall numbersBig East play (not factoring in eye test or defense). 8 games for each.
Polley- 21 minutes, 8.5 points, 2.2 rebounds, 33.3% 3pt, 5.1 3 point apg
Hawkins - 14.8 minutes, 6.4 points, 1.8 rebounds, 34% 3pt, 2.9 3 point apg
Gaff - 16.3 minutes, 5.5, points, 1.9 rebounds, 31.3% 3pt 1.9, 3 point apg
He has to take those shots. Good looks and very close rim outs. Getting lost on defense and stripped on his handle limits his minutes. He has gotten much better and last game he had several nice dimes. If he had hit a few of those open threes then he would get more minutes. I glad he is on our team.
Trending up or trending down?It appears that progress is not linear.
Shocking.
Up. As long as you look at anything other than the last 1 game as a sampleTrending up or trending down?
If so that am as it should be.Hurley is making him earn his minutes. Love it.
Ja, das iest korrect!Did you watch the game? There were two players that showed up.
What he did 5 days ago does nothing for UConn during current game. Frankly if he’s not knocking down up shots he brings nothing to the table. How’d he do against Georgetown 5 days ago, doesn’t that count?
Almost only counts in horseshoes, hand grenade tossing*, and H bomb dropping! Both of his missed 3pt shots were halfway down but missed. His game is fine for a freshman, just hoping his eye/head is fine. We'll need him to contribute in our upcoming gauntlet portion of the schedule.
Neither can Gaff
