An unacceptably vulgar rendition of the traditional colors of the University of Connecticut: national flag blue and white.

So ESPN sets game time at 9 p.m. (we can thank them for the loooong time outs every 4 minutes or so) and Nike decides that our players are in some disguise, with unrecognizable uniform colors and unreadable numbers). Sounds like a form of prostitution to me.

I'll say this in practical terms about the uniforms. The dark gray uniforms made it much harder to differentiate between the teams on camera, especially, in one's peripheral vision. Look at the Baylor game and then look at our game. You'll notice a distinct decrease in separation of the players.

Difficult to distinguish individual players when grouped under the basket. Should burn the uniforms & sit on the ashes as mortification for Lent.

really?
Yes, it was in fun.

For some reason, you've been in popping up all over the board since the loss lecturing people on the way you think they should behave. It can be annoying at times but right now is especially bad timing.

I was happy to hear the announcers refer to them as "gray" and not "platinum." Nothing like the awful truth. These Nike unis were pathetic and I certainly hope we never see them again.

Consider the arrogance of a company like Nike imposing the wrong colors on a school. Do they really think that the fans of a team are suddenly going to say "hey, we really always were a gray, red, and white" team? I presume the schools have some kind of deal with Nike that requires them to wear these awful threads, but Nike needs to go back to the drawing board and design uniforms that will make their customers happy. These won't.

People are allowed to state their opinions and feelings without having to worry that you're going to point out how it's disrespectful to another team. Yes, a lot of people here are objective but it's not required to be a UConn fan or to post on the Boneyard.

Tough room, man. :) I actually liked the uniforms. It did have an Ohio St feel to them, where that idea came from I don't know. But it was a nice change of pace. Look at the bright side, they only have to wear them one time---right?

I agree. I thought they were pretty cool looking. And iirc Geno said the girls really liked them. But yea they were just not UConn.

I sure do
Me too. How is gray and red UCONN? Depressing.
Many fans in the nosebleed section where I was were remarking about it.
Maybe that's why as Nan said the fans were a little subdued last night.

the unis weren't as bad as those nasty sneakers. Having said that, WTF with the red and no blue?

Nah, let them get sent back to Ohio State where they belonged.

Nike pays UConn 10 Million $ a year to wear Nike uniforms and shoes in all sports; so Nike calls the shots.

If Nike says "we think you will look great in Ohio State colors" -- UConn's response is "Gee, that will be cool. Whatever you guys want."

Follow the money.

It makes me sick. UConn's white Unis with "UConn" on the chest are a part of the teams history and pride. There is a lot of meaning in "defend our uniforms" for all good teams with traditions to be proud of.

I think if those uniforms were white and blue they would have been perfect and I'd want to see them all year.. doesn't take away from the fact that I thought they were pretty awesome to begin with.. but then again, I go to a school with the best football uniforms in the country =).. Maybe I'll have a chat with Uncle Phil and tell him to keep the grey away from UConn uni's from now on haha
