What changed since then?

Diallo got scouting reports saying he wasn't ready, needed college competition, and his NBA stock fell a bit.

And we lost every game.

Anyone who is surprised he might pick Kentucky (To Hamidou: Please don't), shouldn't be.

We are a laughing stock. A punch line at best

I don't know which is dumber:'

Ollie is a loser and was played if he loses Diallo
Or
Deciding now that we should have grabbed
Beatty rather than going after Diallo because we might come in second in his recruitment.

The latter.

KO failing to land a player of this caliber, this publicly, this close to home, is an indictment of his program and his recruiting.

Preemptively settling for Plan B in Beatty, rather than swinging for the fences on Diallo, would have been a small-time move that KO was correct to decline.

Sadly, we're probably going to come out looking small-time anyway.

I know Calzone has a reputation for being completely legit and above board, doesn't he?
Get a clue! Calzone is as dirty as they come and his reputation is well deserved and earned over the course of a very lengthy career. Guy has always been dirty even back to his Camby, Lou Roe, Dana Dingle days.

Exhibit A.

Yeah, you're right. I can't think of a single reason why a kid who watched UConn play tonight would want to go to Kentucky.

First, not getting Diallo did not occur yet. You've already cast your verdict. If he goes to KY, it is never embarrassing to lose to MY. It is frustrating as hell , but not a mark of scorn on a coach who is a very good recruiter.

Both statement are dumb and I can't believe how widely held they are on the BY

Well if he made an immediate positive impact for us it's an opportunity for him to prove himself.

If Hami doesn't come to Storrs then F'em....we are going to have a great team next year with or without him. Do any of you know what Abu or Stone are doing now? Exactly, they have been long forgotten....lets focus on Alterique, Larrier, Vance, Durham, Jalen, Enoch, Mamadou, Vital, Carlton, Polley and MAL..

Abu is really good for NCST, and Stone was drafted in the 2nd round last year. Both are better than the front court players we have this year. Try again.

Are you still heartbroken that we didn't get them? Do you really watch a game and say" Man Abu or Stone would have gotten that rebound". What I am saying is that If we don't get him F it. NEXT...don't cry about it and just root for what we have.

You made a stupid point, having these players would've made us better. This isn't arguable.

Stone would have made us better for one year, then left for the NBA. He wouldn't have made us better this year.

He said they've been long forgotten... Maybe if you only watch UConn.

Honestly, I haven't thought about them all year. Just as in the past, recruiting misses were always out of sight, out of mind.

I mean, I remember them well, I just don't think about them. Just like in 2001, UConn could have sure used Jamal Sampson on that donut hole team that went to the NIT. But I wasn't sitting there thinking about him.

Do you remember how much of a show it was on these boards about Abu and Stone? A year later, we did not hear one peep about them. Recruits come and go.....Drummond was the second coming on this board but does he have fans heart like Baz, Giff or Kemba? I barely remember his one and done season...

How would stone have helped us this year?

If people are saying we shouldn't go after HD and just went for Beatty...you guys are insane. We HAVE a legit shot at this kid. If we happen to lose him, we gave it our all. Not getting Beatty isn't going to break this team.

Agree on Beatty. However, you can't have a single recruit hold the program hostage. See Syracuse with Quade Green. Even if they are telling you what you want to hear at some point they either need to commit or you need to recruit over and take the first yes. Beatty won't hurt but missing on Diallo would kill this year and can easily impact next year as well. I believe Ollie kept a schollie open for this exact reason. In hindsight, we sure could have used that extra body. So yeah, missing on Hami is a huge whiff by Ollie that could have a multiple year affect.
