No, it's not 5 star or bust, but to also not random grad transfers with no interest in us to championship either. Maybe open your eyes and stop this incessant white knighting, no one is handing out alumni club points here mau. On our front page we have 5 threads multiple pages long on nobodies who haven't even expressed any interest in or from UConn. Yet we are all stalking their twitters and what reporters are saying. Chillious following a mom on twitter is now standard boneyard discussion material for 8 pages.
Thats what a msg board is for..... For fans to toss out ideas and share news no matter how insignificant it may be. Everything isnt an issue. Most of the threads on players are pretty valid, with some sort of evidence to support the idea of interest.

Ok I guess you are right.

I have a cousin that is finishing up his accounting degree at CCSU this semester. He should be eligible to play immediately, any word if Chill has followed him on twitter?

Saw this kid a lot for a few years (I live out in California and watch a lot of Pac 12 hoops). He's one of those guys who, the less he does the better he is on offense. That isn't to say he can't shoot – his 3-point percentage is mostly fine – but once he puts the ball on the floor almost nothing good is going to happen. So on that side of the ball he's strictly a guy who should spot up, or sneak back door for lay-ups.

Defensively he's REALLY good. Gave Cal's back court a ton of problems in 14/15 and 15/16, including guys like Matthews and Wallace, etc etc. He's built like a brick s%*!house and has good lateral quickness, so he can credibly guard 1-through-3. And he's a DOG. Really, really likes tough games, fights through screens, is good at swiping in passing lanes, etc. Tough tough tough kid (hockey player, I believe), the type you don't notice if you're just watching the a game, but one you'll hate if he's playing your team.

If we're asking him to play 30 MPG and make plays, we're in trouble. But if we're asking him for 15 mins of defense, running and spot-up shooting... I like this signing a lot. I hope we get him.
Thanks for the in depth scouting report. Sounds like a tough junk yard dog. We need some leadership in action even if limited minutes. Minutes are won in practice. Give our guards a good workout in practice too.

This is exactly the sort of player who can both provide key minutes to neutralize another teams shooter who goes off for a career game (sound familiar) and prepare our primary guards for cincy-like defense (or Kansas in 2016 NCAA) which extends past the three point line and kills our offense (also too familiar).

We have 5 scholarships open, no seniors, and 4 freshmen. Getting a few seniors would help balance the class and make sure we could field 5 on 5s in practice.

I don't like that this is the situation we're in. But we have KO for next year and at least the year after. And, I think, we all hope for longer. We had stop gaps like RJ Evans in a year that led to 20 wins. No offense to RJ Evans...

If a coach who has seen him (Chillious) wants him, I'm going to take that guys word over a bunch of message board posters who have never seen him. If we're going to run 3-guard line-ups out there, he seems like a reasonable 5th guard.

I just want to mentally prepare our fans now.

He's had a highover turnover rate in all 3 of his seasons than Brimah had in any of his season's.

Here here I'm with you, These guys know their hoops. I think they have Plan A B C and D. They've seen people that are their type of players. I don't think they are going to be sitting on their hands.
If you look throughout our history and NCAA history you will see that teams that win NCAA championship have to get great guard play, you can get away with mediocre big man play but you need great guard play. Ricky Moore and Khalid, Ben Gordon And Taliek, Kemba and Shabbaz, Shabbaz and Ryan. It didn't matter what Rocoe Smith did. Guards are where it stars and ends. Again Not good guard play GREAT guard play.

No offense to RJ but this kid looks to be potentially of higher impact than RJ just based on athleticism. Who knows but Chillious did see him multiple times as others have mentioned, I will go with his feel on this one. We really have no idea of there is mutual interest anyway, like others we have long threads on. So many moving pieces right now, the good news is they are doing their best to analyze everyone available out there, and I expect they will come up with a couple nice answers for next year.

A 3 and D guy is a perfect fit for a 4th/5th guard right now. Especially one who's experienced and only takes one year of scholarships. Would really like to nail this guy down for most of the reasons mentioned ITT.

High turnover rate is less important if he's a defensive specialist. They can find a role that covers up his weaknesses and takes advantage of his strengths. I would be happy to have him. Sounds like he adds a lot of off-stat-sheet value.

He is the perfect 4th guard in a 2 guard lineup. I would like more of an offensive player if we are going for a 3 guard lineup. We need 2 guards now a days I wI'll take him or Samuel in a second. We need one of the guards to defend the 3 position well

Plus, when you have Adams, Gilbert, and larrier dominating the ball, he's not gonna have it in his hands much. And those guys ability will leave him more open shots in the perimeter, which plays to his strengths. . Thus guy is a win/win imo.

Just preparing our fanbase's lungs for yelling at the screen, even though I do think that role would be a good addition. A 3-and D guy should be very low turnover rate, because all they're required to do is catch and shoot (ending most of their own possessions with a shot and low risk of turnover). I didn't watch much OSU 2 years ago, so I don't know if he had a larger role than that, but I'd guess it was likely so based on @Matrim55's comments.

Hopefully he's improved his shot as he's aged. 36% is fine, but ideally in that role you'd want someone in the 38+% range (and his previous seasons %'s and FT% don't give a ton of optimism). Likewise, his steal and block numbers are troublingly low for a lockdown guy. Maybe he didn't gamble much?

Devil's advocate because I never saw OSU play, but having superior players (dangerous with the ball) will help that % a bit, given he'll have more wide open opportunities.

Also, his steal/block numbers might reflect that his guy couldn't even get the ball!

Kid has some range. ESPN said he is from Louisville. We are not too close if grandmother is in Louisville as well.

He was asked to handle the ball quite a bit more than was reasonable, since Payton was the only true facilitator on the team.

Not quite that. OSU's defense (like their offense) was built around Payton, who was long and active and took a ton of risks. That meant Duvivier (and everyone else) had to play more conservatively. I'd compare him to Rodney in that regard, though he's not quite as good an athlete.
