Gilbert out for season...again

Did they screw it up the first go around? Seems fishy with his summer activity and then the recent brace refitting
I don’t know if anyone screwed it up but it certainly wasn’t a successful outcome. I wished I had been wrong about this. I really like Gilbert as a person.

With luck he is AJ Price (minus the laptops). Without it who knows? Certainly can’t build your team around him that’s for sure.

Range of motion may be an issue, but again risk of re-injury is close to zero like Borges said. Probably won't need a brace. This is very similar to how Dunn career started at Providence. But have to recruit over him now.

He wouldn't have to sit out and control his own path rather than adjusting to new coaching staff who he may not want to be there for seeing he came here because of KO.

Play a year at juco get healthy and regain confidence and he will be highly sought after and able to play immediately probably at an ACC or SEC school
Well then we absolutely MUST keep Ollie. A guy who has missed 2 seasons out of 2 with a recurring injury that might or might not bevrepairable will probably transfer go to junior college for a year then if he actually is healthy and returns to his form of 3-4 years ago he might draw interest from the SEC Or ACC. How can we let that happen? Unbelievable how some of you think. And I use the term advisedly.

Everyone is assuming AG might leave if Ollie is let go. Heck if I was him, I'd consider leaving if Ollie wasn't let go, he has two full seasons with a front row view of just how inept KO is at coaching this squad. A new coaching staff would probably be refreshing for him, although he would never publicly admit it.

Or maybe it’s even he likes him and has nothing to admit??? Try that one on Sammy

Its a long recuperation process, no one screw up. The next surgery is the similar to the one that Rodney had in 12/2013. He took 4 months off. Hoping to see Al back practicing with Akinjo this summer

Or maybe he sees the writing on the wall, and knows under KO's tutelidge, it'll be quite hard to get to the "next" level playing in a offensive scheme that embodies the words basic & simple minded.

Go back to the dressing room and try that one on Mau.... The fact of the matter is we don't know, we're not AG, but to assume only one position is futile

Jahmal McMurray currently playing for SMU

I meant sitting out two years of injury then juco but touché. Probably too late to transfer to juco for second semester (not 100 percent on juco transfer rules)

Oh, good. I'm glad the thread has kept on topic about a young man who has suffered two devastating injuries in consecutive years, and not the off-topic "fire Ollie" stuff that you see in so many other threads...

Gilbert is a McDonald’s All-American top 25 nationally ranked player. Jahmal McMurray ranked about 400 nationally - big difference.

Terrible news but not unexpected.

KO and staff really screwed the pooch by not locking down a stud PG in last year's class. He shouldn't be let off the hook on account of this (re-)injury.
There it is. Surprised it took this long.

Loose joints become chronic issues. Very hard to stabile without limiting range of motion for anyone. Bracing or strapping in some way is only way to stabilize without impacting range of motion. Note that my experience is with pitcher's shoulder injuries via a collision on the field (my son was the pitcher). Tried the minor surgery route with a year of strengthening muscles surrounding the joint -didn't work. Shoulder would partially pop then slide back into place & would cause significant pain then get very stiff. Sports injuries specialist told him the only way to insure that joint wouldn't pop was to wire it in; he would be able to play outfield but not pitch.

Unfortunately we have not seen the top 25 McDonald's All American. We have heard about it, but not seen much. I would not anticipate seeing this top 25 Mcdonald's All-American play in a UConn uniform unless it is someone from a future class. This type of injury will remain chronic even with the lysis of the adhesions, (ie excision of scar tissue) if that is really the planned surgical procedure.
