I actually like this for her, it's not a tough place to recruit like Texas was, and if I recall she had very good luck at recruiting on the East coast, and mid-west. I like this hire.

I agree with Mike, Gail wasn't able to recruit at Texas a school with rich tradition and unlimited resources. Also a State with loads of high quality players. Don't see where she'll do any different at OSU.

It's all about connections in the here and now, what recruit currently would know who GG is, she would need to put together a staff with AAU ties, the Cal gambit was all the doing of Kevin Morrison.

This is a really poor analysis on Mike's part and yours. Absolutely no kid recruited since 2007, not one, cares about Texas's 1986 national championship. Jody Conradt had basically run the program into the ground. Texas had been relevant exactly once in more than 15 years by the time Jody finally stepped down and that was when Jamie Carey fell into her lap. It was a huge rebuilding effort. GG may not have been the right person for it, but at minimum she made the tourney every year despite a ton of bad luck with injuries. Now, making the tourney isn't that a big an accomplishment perhaps, but it's more than Jody did her last two years or Aston did in her first.

As for her years at Duke, to call building a program from scratch and getting within an overtime of winning a national championship, along with one other finals appearance and five F4 appearances total, to call that underachieving is absolutely ridiculous. There hasn't been a coach other than Geno and Pat who produced such consistent results during that period (or after for that matter, other than Tara).

Given that Duke hasn't sniffed a Final Four since she left, maybe she should get just a little bit of credit?

And speaking of Tara, her last NC was the season before GG started at Duke. Does that mean she's underachieved over the past 20 years as well?

Kim & Gary Blair were able to revive and/or bring back into prominence Baylor and Texas A&M. What makes their situations any different then Gail had at Texas? Gail had a huge advantage in name recognition when she went to Texas. Also Texas has a significant resource advantage that Baylor & Texas A&M would love to have. Gail is a good coach, but IMHO she's not the coach to get them to a National Championship.

If OSU goes after Jeff Walz the result will be that Louisville will tear up his existing contract and give him a big raise. Going to the ACC Louisville won't want to lose their Basketball Coaches.

Karen A. has finally been able to recruit the state of Texas something gg never was able to do.
I still say that final 4 game between Texas & Uconn was one of the best final 4 games i have ever seen. I met so many Uconn fans that were just such good people.

Not negative speculation. Just wondering if there is some obligation, contract, or other issue that has become difficult to resolve. Everything I was hearing from within the B1G was things were moving forward efficiently and quickly.
