SickWhere was Ice Brady?
SickWhere was Ice Brady?
Team is definitely progressing, Yes, ICE was ill and did not make the trip. I don't know what to make of Q. Her prime asset ( I think ) was her 3 point shot. But that has deserted her. She never makes one now. So she churns around and tries to do other stuff. The game has not slowed down for her. I keep hoping the best player she can be will emerge. Everything else you said was right on. I hope both Morgan and Allie get a lot more court time. But the truth is, once Paige returns, and ICE is healthy, and Aubrey returns, that won't happen. We don't want any injuries. That is not the way to provide court time.-Somebody mentioned it before but it does look like UConn gives up the ball on the opening tip. Never noticed before.
- Even though Hession shot lights out with 6 threes, it was still a solid defensive performance especially after the first quarter.
-Cheli got the minutes that Ice would get and played well. Nice to see her hit a three.
-Chen broke out her scoring slump. Not sure I get the discussion about whether she should start. Both Chen and KK are having very good seasons in their current role.
-Strong had another “head shaking” moment in the first half when she flipped a perfect pass to Cheli while falling down. Few have the instincts to make that play.
-Azzi seamlessly has picked up the scoring slack with Paige’s absence. Plus, her shooting sometimes overshadows how good of a defender she is. It is why, if she stays healthy will be a great pro.
-I am thrilled that Q got time in front of home fans. Especially after her struggles Wednesday. Wish one of her shots would have fallen.
-I rarely mention Shade which, I am like many, who take for granted how consistently well she plays.
-A little slow start but overall a solid performance.
What were they trying to determine? I couldn't turn the volume up. I was watching the game during a meeting.I'm glad that lengthy call resulted in an inadvertent whistle. They ought to use that tack more often.
No idea. It was so obvious from the very first replay SNY showed. I think the refs just didn't want to admit they were wrong and were looking for something to justify the foul on Jana which is nuts to me. Why are people so afraid to admit they were wrong? What were they trying to determine? I couldn't turn the volume up. I was watching the game during a meeting.
sick.Was Ice Brady hurt?
it's my opinion. You can disagree, but I don't hate on any of our players and I don't have a cataract either. It's my critique of what I'm seeing and we can all afford to be less catty when we disagree on a topic/stance.Maybe you have cataract? You’ve hated on her since day 1 .. there’s a reason why Geno starts her ..
My 20/20 is the same as yoursAll in all - A win is a win:
Azzi Fudd played well offensively but was superb defensively. Her shot is so pretty. She converts on almost every catch and shoot opportunity she has. She needs more pass and repass actions and the offense should flow through her until Paige gets back and when she returns.
KK was good and her being a spark off the bench has turned into her jumpstarting a dead battery. Either way, she ignites this team on both ends.
Sarah Strong is such a steady force and fills in on the guard and post deficiencies.
Chelli was great and has elite passing and feel of the game. Shade made some good plays, Ziebell is coming for someone’s spot and forcing time on the court and El Alfy is coming along.
And this is what a Buecker-less team looks like should Fudd return and I think they have some tools and pieces.
Here’s the not good:
Kaitlyn Chen’s effort is there but is not playing well on offense or defense and something has to change and I don’t care who thinks otherwise. I have 20/20 vision.
It is Geno and CD’s opinions that count.it's my opinion. You can disagree, but I don't hate on any of our players and I don't have a cataract either. It's my critique of what I'm seeing and we can all afford to be less catty when we disagree on a topic/stance.
She has all the skills and tools to improve as we go on and the transition to UConn on a one year deal has to be tough. So I get it. She starts because I think we all know she's a talent. She has some elite skills, we just haven't seen them in a UConn jersey yet. I don't think she's playing well right now and that's that.
This non call just helps with my opinion that refs make calls based upon what they think happens and not what they see. It's true that some things happened on that play, but the ref blowing the whistle didn't see what it was. A player was poked in the eye or was hit above the shoulders but there was no way that Jana could have done either because she was getting mugged by two players trying to tie the ball up - which never happened. So the ref blows the whistle and calls a foul on Jana. And after the review, the refs just said "oops" because they still wouldn't admit that Jana was getting mugged. Most likely because it is not reviewable.I'm glad that lengthy call resulted in an inadvertent whistle. They ought to use that tack more often.
I’m OK with that play, because what I watched was an extremely aggressive Jana, chasing down a rebound, fighting 2 Georgetown players to come up with the ball and then fighting through a double team to pass the ball to an open teammate. If Jana can rebound like that all the time, UConn has a real opportunity in March. This non call just helps with my opinion that refs make calls based upon what they think happens and not what they see. Yes, the official was adamant with the offensive foul call. Boy oh boy did she have a sour expression looking at the replay. No idea. It was so obvious from the very first replay SNY showed. I think the refs just didn't want to admit they were wrong and were looking for something to justify the foul on Jana which is nuts to me. Why are people so afraid to admit they were wrong?
Like what I saw from Jana. She looks like she is definitely getting better.
Jana 18, Morgan 22. Jana played 1st half of each qtr, Morgan second half, of course a little more.I would expect her to get more than 18 mins, esp when Ice is out, if Geno were happy with her play.
My point is just that the ref didn't see what happened but instead of letting them play on, as Jana did, the ref blew the whistle. If she didn't see what actually happened, then one of the other two would have blown their whistle if in fact a possible flagrant foul occurred. Refs can only review for a possible flagrant foul scenario, right??I’m OK with that play, because what I watched was an extremely aggressive Jana, chasing down a rebound, fighting 2 Georgetown players to come up with the ball and then fighting through a double team to pass the ball to an open teammate. I think that Jana shows her emotions on the court, that affects her play. Usually Geno will replace her when she does this and she then has a conversation with Chris.Jana 18, Morgan 22. Jana played 1st half of each qtr, Morgan second half, of course a little more.
Geno also left them go for these periods, not in and out. That especially helps Jana. Some positives were Jana doing some rim protecting, blocking shots, rebounding well and passing from high post.
Challenge is she still bobbles the ball, and is a bit slow on her feet.
Morgan provides more flexibility. She has a guard's handle and quickness and can defend 1-5. She's not 6' 5" though.
Some times refs make mistakes. In this case the review of a potential flagrant foul by Jana got the common foul overturned. What I liked is that Jana made one hell of a play, and I wouldn’t have known that unless the ref blew the whistle. My point is just that the ref didn't see what happened but instead of letting them play on, as Jana did, the ref blew the whistle. If she didn't see what actually happened, then one of the other two would have blown their whistle if in fact a possible flagrant foul occurred. eviction order in processRef from Litchfield, CT.
And usually a good one. Dee Kantner would have something on Jana.Ref from Litchfield, CT.
Starting center only 18 minutes. Let the post live.
Your privilege, fellow Boneyarder...I'm open minded but not on that specific topic. I respect and love everyone on the Boneyard and appreciate the camaraderie and dialogue but I said what I said.

Great assessment with exception of Jana. After being taken out in the 1st quarter, appeared she got "Genoed." From her expression, appeared she had never seen this type of in your face "coaching" from Geno before. Even though Jana was the only true big suited up, she played very little from then on.Hats off to Georgetown. They competed hard out there today. In the end, UConn was just too much. Great game. What the heck was the refs reviewing on that rebound by Jana and the player got hit in the eye by her own teammate? I will have to watch the replay later, if Fox replays the game.
Azzi-Looked great out there. Love the confidence she has going.
Sarah-What more to say. She is a joy to watch.
Ashlynn-Love her game. She is that glue player every team needs.
Chen-I love that she is on the team. She does so much.
Jana- Each game she gains that confidence.
Morgan-She is a game changer. Solid rebounding, especially on the offensive glass. That is a mark of fearlessness & desire.
Allie-Got some minutes and did not disappoint.
Q-Got some minutes out there. She just has to remain confident. I love that she is not afraid to shoot the ball.
KK-The floor general. The straw that stirs the drink. She continues to impress. Her defense is what sparks a lot of of our offensive plays.
Ice-Get well. Hope that you feel better.
Paige-Keep resting and getting better.
Great win, UConn!!
