Georgetown Post Game

This team as some weaknesses that can be cured with time. It's only December. Looking for some real improvement across the board in January and February.

He was so ticked off at Ice on one botched play that he turned his back to talk to his assistants, and completely missed an offensive rebound and nifty putback.

I'm so glad Morgan is being given an opportunity to show her worth. (She was a very early substitute last night.) Morgan is steady, level-headed, can bring the ball upcourt, is a credible outside threat, and a real scrapper and workhorse underneath. Even when she mishandles the ball, she'll dive right back in to scramble for it, leading to several held-balls. This is an all-purpose player with a bright future on this team.

In just 17 & 1/2 minutes, Morgan was tied with Sarah for team leader in assists+steals. And unlike Sarah, Morgan had no TOs. A bright star on the horizon. You could see it from her HS games. Even when she was on the bench, she was constantly "coaching" her teammates (like Paige does).

Thats true, but how often do you see a freshman leading a team in rebounding when you have 6'3"and 6'5" players. Rebounding just takes effort. Look at Morrow who is only 6'1". Most of the leading rebounders in the NCAAW are all under 6'2". This stat line will work against an overmatched Georgetown team but against a South Carolina or final four team I think we are going home. Paige and Sarah do need help
Iowa beat SOCar one year when SOCar had a frontline of Boston and Cradoso. If Iowa could do it, why can't UcONN? Iowa's center was no more than 6'2.

The stats are in post 5. Sarah had 5 assists, 1 steal; Morgan had 3 assists, 3 steals in her best game to date

I really like what Im seeing with Morgan. Geno said shes gonna see more playtime and Im glad to hear that. Morgan has some nice block outs, made some nice passes and isnt afraid to shoot and we need shooters and scorers. We are depending to much on Paige and Sarah. Im thinking after these next two big games we are gonna see alot more of Morgan. I expect to see her against Iowa St and USC and after that alot more time. She is a good all round player with skills. She works really hard out there. Again we need more scorers and Morgan isnt afraid to shoot and hits her open shots. Adding her into the lineup and when Azzi gets back we've got a good nucleus.

That is what practice is for....if you can't make them with some regularity during a game, don't shoot them.
If you're talking about Z, CD said she IS making them in practice, they're just not falling in games. Something to the effect of - "maybe we need to do something to settle her in."

Note: Last time she said something like that it was about Sara (when everyone was griping about her taking/missing threes). Next game? Sara struck 3-gold.

Who is Z?

Who is Z?
Seeing how it's so hard here on the BY to call players by their names, we make names up and hopefully everyone will jump on the bandwagon.
I believe that Z is Allie. However, she will always be Allie to me, just like it's Sarah, Morgan, Qadence, Ashlynn, and Caroline.
Stepping off the soap box now.

For some reason, I think of Morgan as another freshman Ashlynn, whom I really like. And freshman Ashlynn reminded me of freshman Caroline, whom I really, really like. And freshman Caroline reminded me of the original Lou, except Caroline was a bit better than Katie Lou on defense and getting to the basket as a freshman.

Interesting, Centerstream, and I like it. I'll just add that I believe Morgan will be better this season than Ashlynn was last year. Whatever the case, it's great to have them both on board!

Ultimately, Ash needs to be able to perform consistently against the P4 and elite teams which thus far in her career she has not. She's played in 15 games against NCAAT teams and looked bad in all but 1 (Louisville). I am not kicking her to the curb but given what we have seen with the early results of Morgan and with Azzi's pending return, I think Ash has moved down in the pecking order despite having the current starting nod. As a well-known poster point out to me, Morgan is 50/55/100 (albeit in a very small sample size). Morgan has size and the tenacity so I will be curious how this plays out.

Sometimes it’s hard to look good when you aren’t playing with the A team and you’re on the B or C team.
