Georgetown Post Game Thread

The announcer shaming everyone running for the exits is pure gold
Loved it - Fanta/Marshall > Any FoxSports. And for fook sake, just leave with 10 minutes to go if you're gonna bail early.
Ever been a thread with best routes out of Storrs after a game? I have a few convoluted ones.

Another game with Mullins looking great early and then not much late. Where are those heroics from the PC OT game?

Michigan’s better. Are you holding every UConn team to the standard of it being a disappointment if they’re not the #1 team in the country?
Fair point.

Well, We won.
AK just became the winningest player in program history...
Solo continued to have hot shooting and his wrist tape has come off
That said, we really made some dumb plays.
5-15 on threes. Wouldn’t call that hot

.-.
I have no complaints. We really controlled the entire game. G'town played way over their heads and it still wasn't enough. It's just an ugly win that looks good in the W/L column. Nothing more. Nothing less.
I just can’t bring myself to be overly upset or concerned with a 24-2 team. Frustrated? Absolutely. But 24-2(14-1) is fun, no?

Ball put up a lot of shots. He shot great in the first half. Second half more typical this year. I don't mind him taking a lot of shots. Someone has to shoot it, but I thought he took more contested shots in the second half. Some of that is because our offense is so deliberate, we are forced to take shots late clock. I would like to see us initiate our offense quicker. Smith is the worst at this, just holding the ball until there is 10 seconds left on the clock.

Free throw shooting is not good. Ball, Demary, Reibe, Reed, they all missed shots. Thankfully AK came through in the clutch. Demary hit some big ones too, but they said his percentage was down to 70%? That's not great for our point guard.
Silas was 9/10
Reibe, reed, and Stewart I believe were the big culprits

I think I'd much prefer Mullins be the passer and use Alex as a big target to the throw the inbound pass to and either pass to the guards or get fouled.
I think our main problem is that we can't inbound to our centers due to bad FT shooting. This would be for close games.

Look back 3 possessions he was thrown the ball with less than 5 seconds on the shot clock and had no choice but to heave it!

Thy were playing ball very tight in the 2nd half and he nevrer adjusted. He needs to to know maybe faking the outside shot and driving to to to the hoop or a midrange shot might be a better option in those situations.

Liam could rebound.
And he could do some work off the dribble. He was bigger. Honestly not really sure what Mullins does all that better for this Uconn team other than shoot the three at a better percentage. And it's not like he's Kneuppel out there, he's 37%.

It is funny ain't it.

Georgetown’s offense consists of jacking crazy 3’s and kamikaze drives to the basket, and they still score. But their season will end with the BET. Cooley has blown it with a pretty talented crew.

Why can't Reibe shoot free throws, baffling. He came in with with what many saying was a nice shooting touch.

Just an absolute sore on the eyes. All those can defend us completely since we are 24-2, which is tremendous. But, this team is INCREDIBLY flawed.
This team isn't dominant and lack players that are built like that. Reed is the closest and Mullins does not have the physical strength yet. Championship teams generally flash and are elite in several areas. Good coaches will exploit our weaknesses and this team lacks killer instinct.

Our Huskies are good, but teams do not fear us. It is what it is this year. Despite, they have a chance to cut down the nets as much as anyone.

We have to enjoy this team as much as we can and we all share your frustration. This team still has head room..

They were 18-25 from the line. It's acceptable. But Reed going 2-4, Riebe0-1, and Stewart going 0-2 dragged those numbers down.

Rest of the team was 16-18 and they made 11 of the last 12.

Demary was at 78% and is up to 79.4% after going 9-10 tonight.

He is taking less midrange shots lately. That was very effective earlier. He got to the line more too. We don't get to the line enough as a team.

I understand we're looking for 3 point shots, but Demary, Mullins and Ball need to get in the lane and pull up for short jumpers, just to create problems for defenders and get them off the line.

I can't remember the last time one of them missed a pull-up, fadeway or step back J.

Create some open space out there, make things easier.

This team needs to take a huge jump to win the BET, let alone reach the FF. I’m concerned we’re going to lose to Nova and SJU coming up.
They just need a few players to have a higher floor. UConn is a great team they just have a few players that are occasionally having really bad games. Reed is a great player, but he was terrible today. We have seen that with a few of stars and with the bench.

Reed is the most frustrating player we have had in an age.

He has two speeds - good and genuinely awful. It's way too late in his career to still be getting the horrible from him. Just a puzzling dude.
Reed is soft like marshmallow. Need to ride him like a cute little burro.

How about try having the tallest guy on the floor inbound the ball??

And he has been great driving and mid range this year, tonight he wasn’t even attempting it.

Mullins shoots better than Liam from everywhere on the court. I love Liam but he was an inefficient shooter and really bad finishing around the rim.

All those complicated offensive sets and there's no inbounds play. I can't understand.
That's just it. You can't think about making a pass. You make it. There is nothing to think about. By the time you weight the factors in "should I make the pass, or not", it 's too late. Ergo our issue. That and refs allowing our target players to be grabbed.

I would rarely recommend inbounding the ball to a C.

I prefer a big body who can catch, turn and make a quick decision pass to bust the back side of a press. And to me Karaban best fits the bill.
