Georgetown Post Game Thread

Teams are hunting solo on defense. It's getting harder to hide him, can't play Mullins and ball on the floor at the same time so we lose offensive fire power.

The team played better with Reibe in the lineup as he was much more active on the glass and in the offense. His defense was also better.

Mullins I understand he has a green light but sometimes that quick trigger gers the team in trouble with long rebounds and run outs.

Solo shooting improvements over the last couple of games are great to see but like I said earlier teams are hunting him on defense.

What did you think of Calhoun's comment about giving "the German kid" more playing time? I think Reibe looks better when he gets more minutes. Reed did not have a great game tonight. His foul trouble gave Reibe more opportunity by default and he looked better. Neither of them are good from the line.
I’ve been saying it too. However, he struggles against better teams. I was a huge Reed supporter, but man, he just isn’t stepping up. He’s huge and talented but he just doesn’t show up 2/3 of the time.

Free throw shooting is not good. Ball, Demary, Reibe, Reed, they all missed shots. Thankfully AK came through in the clutch. Demary hit some big ones too, but they said his percentage was down to 70%? That's not great for our point guard.

Over/Under

Reaching the Sweet Sixteen and losing in that round.

Start Reibe. Get Reed outta here.
I'm just as frustrated with Reeds lack of focus in games however we really need him to start and finish games. We have no one with that type of physicality on our team. Hurley needs to reel him in to stay focused. Reibe will be a good one for the future, but to start is very questionable.

If we’ve learned anything about this team it’s that they play up and down to the competition. SJ and Nova don’t worry me. It’s some 8-9 seed team we overlook taking us out that does.
Agreed. I don’t think tonight is any way predictive of any tough matchup going forward. Just like beating Creighton on the road by 30 wasn’t either. We’re an enigma—can’t put away bad teams for some reason

UConn is getting very little from the bench. Ross was alright but he was getting beat a lot and still loves to fall for those upfakes. Smith is just guy who gives Demary a few minutes off the court to breathe. Stewart is playing his worst Basketball of the season and is supplying no help-defense when in. Only Reibe is giving us something off the bench. Glad to see Ball have a good first half shooting but he needs to learn to drive when teams play him tight like they did in the 2nd half. Mullins is starting to look a little one dimensional out there as a gunner. He needs to expand his game and not settle for the outside shots. Problem is without Demary and to some extent Karaban we have nobody who drives to the basket with any regularity which makes defending us much easier. I like this team but just wonder if we are missing one really good creator on offense from being a final four team. Also, the defense is starting to look like last year with too much dribble penetration being allowed the last 3 games. Big Props to Alex, The UConn all-time winningest player, for bailing us out after making that horrible inbound pass.

Inbounding the ball continues to be a problem. I'm not sure it is AK's fault though. Guys got to get open. Coaches need to set up plays to get them open. It is a problem and it almost cost us.
Yeah I don't think it's AK's fault either. This coaching staff is the best staff in the country, IMO, but I think the hole they have in their skillset is designing good inbound plays. Maybe they should have Sean McVay, the LA Rams coach, design some good football style formations for the inbound plays.

You can't just say 24-2 and act like everything is great. GT is not a good team, should never have been this close at home. Not feeling very confident right now.

Forget about not being a good team. Georgetown is worse than almost every team in the SEC, Big 10, and Big 12 conferences.

Try watching a few games, snowball.
I've seen plenty of games to know we have plenty of parts that simply need to all be great at same time. Not easy.

Tonight was date night, like always for 25 years. Missed the game.

Huskies won. If we play Michigan, the Wolverines will be in a rock fight.

I have no complaints. We really controlled the entire game. G'town played way over their heads and it still wasn't enough. It's just an ugly win that looks good in the W/L column. Nothing more. Nothing less.
But kills our KenPom lol.

He has had some good games but he is not dominating like I would like to see. We need him to be great to have a chance at a title.

The announcer shaming everyone running for the exits is pure gold
Loved it - Fanta/Marshall > Any FoxSports. And for fook sake, just leave with 10 minutes to go if you're gonna bail early.
Ever been a thread with best routes out of Storrs after a game? I have a few convoluted ones.

Well, We won.
AK just became the winningest player in program history...
Solo continued to have hot shooting and his wrist tape has come off
That said, we really made some dumb plays.
5-15 on threes. Wouldn’t call that hot

I just can’t bring myself to be overly upset or concerned with a 24-2 team. Frustrated? Absolutely. But 24-2(14-1) is fun, no?

Ball put up a lot of shots. He shot great in the first half. Second half more typical this year. I don't mind him taking a lot of shots. Someone has to shoot it, but I thought he took more contested shots in the second half. Some of that is because our offense is so deliberate, we are forced to take shots late clock. I would like to see us initiate our offense quicker. Smith is the worst at this, just holding the ball until there is 10 seconds left on the clock.
