Can’t think of one play this year where I thought “damn Silas really panicked there.”Or Silas doesnt look for him. When those sets breaks down, it usually results in Silas panicking late, looking for Solo for a contested, rushed 3.

Big difference between Silas and Newt was Newtons ability to go into the lane, stay tall and attract contact/free throws. Silas too often drives into the lane, hits a wall and squats low. I’m not sure if he’s defended differently because Newton had the lob threat, but he was so much more effective at generating offense himself through free throws. Can’t think of one play this year where I thought “damn Silas really panicked there.”
They don’t run enough sets for him. The offense in general seems to slow to develop and methodical. I hate the tempo this team plays at.
you must not be watching. Do you not see him drive into a very crowded lane late in the shot clock only to lose the ball. It happens a few times a game. Look closer. Can’t think of one play this year where I thought “damn Silas really panicked there.”
While I do favor your thoughts and sentiments here, I think what makes everyone uncomfortable about this team is all the other Top 10 teams are routinely smoking their bottom-dweller conference mates by 20-30 points across the board. With all this negativity on here, I will take a stab at the glass half full. Danny is an intense guy who runs hard practices. Most of his teams hit a mid season wall and quickly recover in March. This team seems to have a hit a similar wall to the 23 team. The big difference is either this team is so good or the big east is so bad that this year they are finding ways to win while still grossly underperforming. Last night was much the same. Far from a perfect performance but seriously did anyone doubt the result? Even after they cut it to 4 late, was anyone worried? I wasn’t. People need to chill. This is a very talented team with a high ceiling. They can beat anyone on any night and are very difficult to prepare for. I think for the last month it’s a very big ask to expect these kids to maintain maximum intensity in games they know they will win. Guess what? They have. Let’s see what happens in the rematch vs St. John’s.
I noticed Reed often is moving on his picks but it is not always called. Last night the called him for a moving pick except he wasn’t moving but what he did do was give the defender a little shove in the back as he went by. Blatantly obvious to the refs. This is year 4 of our “elite offensive sets”.
I think what we are seeing is some combo of:
-teams have watched film for 3+ years and have a much better idea of how our sets are going to evolve…especially deep into the shot clock
-teams have learned that one effective way to mitigate is to hold, grab, and push with reckless abandon and dare the refs to call every instance. As we’ve seen, they maybe call 5% of the off-ball fouls (that may be an overestimate)
-for whatever reason, we just don’t seem to be as crisp and effective with our screens as we were with the 22/23, 23/24 teams. The D seems to get through them much more effectively and there just aren’t as many ridiculously wide-open looks/cuts anymore. I think some is on our guards, some on our screeners.
-our P-n-R’s are just not that effective as our bigs seem to not be able to get to the rim and elevate for lobs like in years past

Thing is, people will complaijn if they lose one of these next 2 games. But they shouldn't.I've seen people post we're going to find out what this team is made of in March.
IMO we're going to find out what this team is made of in the next three games. The Nova and St. John's games will let us know. As Hurley said we better fix our s^^t or we're not going to have a championship season.
They are confused. They don’t run enough sets for him. The offense in general seems to slow to develop and methodical. I hate the tempo this team plays at.
Lmao I said this after St John's and you crucified me.We got incredibly lucky tonight. We don't look anything like the team we were in those big out of conference games earlier in the season and I don't know why. It certainly isn't all on the refs and style of Big East play.
If we don't play a lot better @Nova and St. John's at home they will both be losses.
Not writing them off or anything but we're running out of time to figure things out.
One thing I am growing increasingly frustrated with is the tendency for referees to allow holding of offensive players during the inbound pass, especially towards the end of games. On Alex and the inbound play is it Alex’s passing or the others not getting open? Too many times we put receivers in the corners which Alex recognizes is dangerous. We also don’t pass it to either of our centers because they don’t shoot FTs and we can’t put Malachi in there for the same reason. So we pull the center and put in Ross
Yes and that’s why TNew was added to the Huskies of Honor before he stepped off campusBig difference between Silas and Newt was Newtons ability to go into the lane, stay tall and attract contact/free throws. It makes you realize how many of the facets of that 24 team were unique and not repeatable, largely due to personnel and not the system. That teams actions were a work of art. This years offense is hard to watch. It goes to show you how much the recruiting in this sport is always priority A, B and C.
That's the downside of college hoops, where 90% of your season's success is based on what happens in March. While the 24-2 is really nice, everyone knows the final evaluation of this season is based on how this team does against the field of 68. It's what makes the sport frustrating yet exciting. Everyone here knows we can go 28-3, yet if we lose in the second round, that's all anyone will care about or remember. The most miserable 24-2 fan base ever.
Nope. I’m loving watching 24 wins and only two losses. You choose to find every negative and be miserable. I honestly don’t think he thought AK would be back this year. It's almost as if he had a choice to stick around this season knowing he would have to play well to get on the floor and stay on the floor. Or, he could have gone to another school where he'd be guaranteed minutes regardless of output.
Sometimes it makes me wonder how many people showed up after 23/24. Smh, I’ve been grateful enough to see SIX natties in my life along with the greatest back to back run in history. (IMO).The most miserable 24-2 fan base ever.

I can acknowledge things weren’t great last night. And we’ve had some real head scratchers lately. But when supposed fans start saying anyone not panicking is “waving pompoms” or whatever, I just have no time for that. Don’t we all have better things to do than rage about our 24-2 team?Sometimes it makes me wonder how many people showed up after 23/24. WE WERE IN THE FREAKING CELLAR. I didn’t know if I would ever see UConn return to the mountain top again but here we are.
Being in the conversation year-in-year-out is what it’s all about. ENJOY IT PEOPLE.
My point is that this goes for all fan bases of top programs. Do you think Duke fans care if they have a great regular season then lose early in the tournament. It's the nature of the sport as a whole. No one remembers teams that don't finish the job when it matters. How many of us are looking at 2006 as a good year?Nope. I’m loving watching 24 wins and only two losses. You choose to find every negative and be miserable. Enjoy that.
