Karaban hit shots early... I was at the game and did a rewatch, more focused on the second half run. Where's the Karaban played poorly narrative coming from?
He missed 3 straight 3s at the start of the 2nd half as Georgetown took the lead, and they were increasingly off with the last one being an airball long (or maybe glanced the rim). He also got beat down the floor on one of them by Akok. He played pretty well in the beginning from what I remember (the 2 3s and the nice backdoor cut).

But he definitely needed to settle down and re-focus after those shots in the 2nd. Hurley used a 4 guard lineup without him when we made the run.

Give credit to Georgetown for outrebounding us. But terrible officiating. Ted Valentine is such a joke of a ref, T'ing up people after blowing the call.
Ted Valentine wasn't officiating last night's game.

Felt like the 4 guard lineup was in response to adding defense, Alleyne and Diarra, with hustle and shooting from Joey. Also I noticed since they know Akok so well the knew they could matchup a guard against him since Hurley knew Akok wouldn't take advantage by posting up a smaller player. Didn't feel like that was due specifically to a deficiency of Karaban.

Understood he missed shots in the second half like you noted, just surprised bythe collective opinion is karaban played poorly.

You may be right, you may be wrong. I don't put much stock in coach-speak. I don't put much stock in practice reports from "insiders" or much else other than the product on the court.

And the product on the court for Johnson last year was not pretty. It was pretty abysmal actually.

There are very, very few freshman in the country who go from not seeing a lick of meaningful playing time to being a starting-caliber player in a year. With Johnson's athleticism, he can make it happen. But expecting it seems a little presumptuous.

That being said, I'm hoping you're right and I am eating a handful of crow in a month or two because our team will be that much better for it.

To think we have 2 freshmen who are starter caliber in the same year, kudos to the coaching staff and we are so blessed!

This is where it began. Have we improved? Let’s revisit
