Games Jan. 20-26

My Aggies fall at home to Bethune Cookman 69-58

My Spartans fall for the first time in the SOCON on the road at Wofford. The Mighty Terriers battle back from down 13 at the half... 66-61. :(

Now my Panthers start play vs Hampton....... does Guilford County go 0-3 this afternoon???
Is Foy out for the season?

Listening to the these Hampton announcers, they are certainly an excitable pair. You would actually think they are HPU announcers at times based on their reaction to some of the plays :p

Kansas State had a huge 3rd quarter (28-16) to separate from Oklahoma, now up by 16 with 10:00 to play.

Oklahoma continues to be up and down.
Kansas State is much improved since November, when they lost to UT Arlington and Memphis.

It must be my imagination, but it seems like every Boise St. game is at home. They definitely aren't the same as last year, dropped a close one to Fresno St. to fall to 5-3 in conference. Fresno St. is undefeated, staying ahead of San Jose St. I didn't have any kind of a feel for the Mountain West before the season started, but I certainly wouldn't have picked FSU and SJSU as the top 2 teams.

Gonzaga up 35-26 over LMU at halftime, trying to stay undefeated in WCC.

I'm enjoying this commentary a lot :) These guys are really into it

Guilford County escapes getting swept. HPU (My panthers) come out with a hard fought win at Hampton 81-77. Dont look now, but they are tied for second place (with 3 other teams)

They sound like they are college students. I think they had different announcers the last time I watched them at home.

Some other notable results from today:
  • Iowa State dominates (yes, I said it :) ) Kansas, 89-67.
  • UCF dominated (yes, I said it again :) ) Memphis, 82-66. Kay Kay Wright had 21 points and 12 assists.
  • Houston came from behind in 4Q to send it to OT and then beat Wichita State.
  • Central Michigan once again comes up big in the clutch, outscores Toledo 21-10 in 4Q to win 73-66 and stay undefeated in the MAC.

Just peeked in on the Fordham at Dayton game on ESPNU. HOLLY is game analyst. Oh, Dayton is up 22-10 at the half.

Convinced me. Got to hear this until the LSU/TN game
I was watching the Texas - Oklahoma State game replay prior to this, wasn't a very exciting game even though I enjoy listening to the Big 12 announcing team.

30 seconds is all I could take, Head bang

Does the gym at Providence even hold 2000. Flipped over to that game and that place is tiny.

South Dakota is actually in a ball game, up 37-30 at the half against Oral Roberts.

This one probably doesn't rate a game thread of its own, but Colorado @ Cal is fairly big. Cal is still winless in conference. Colorado has come close to some big upsets, but is only 2-5 in conference, they could really use a win to stay within striking distance of the middle of the pack.

Butler up 5 inside a minute left @ Creighton.

Was just gonna remark on this. Not a huge upset -- both teams are in a huge logjam of 6 teams in 2nd place at 5-3 -- but it's an upset nonetheless.

USC is a hot mess so far, Washington up 9-0. Of course UW and early leads are a kiss of death.

Ugh. UW leading 9-4 at the end of Q1. This one is UGLY! Not a single foul has been called so far. I can't say I've ever seen an entire quarter without a whistle before. Lots of contact in the lane on shots on both ends of the floor.

Just switched over to Cincinnati-Temple on ESPNU. Not an exciting game really, but a great commentator duo with Brenda VanLengen and Andraya Carter.

Temple making a run. Lead cut to 64-60 after being up by 16

Washington was up 19-6, USC cut it down to 5. Now 24-17 at the Q2 media TO. Finally a couple fouls called as well. Q2 has been much better than Q1.

Somehow Temple's RPI is high enough (#52), despite no significant wins, that they have an outside shot at an at-large bid this year. But they'd have to win games like this one.

Some of the USC players on the bench look shell shocked. They got the news about Kobe a little bit before the game. Many of the players knew him.

Washington leading 34-21. Henson is on fire.
