Games Jan. 20-26

HUGE upset out of Bellingham Washington (not sure where that is)

A bit more than an hour north of Seattle, straight up I-5. Last decent sized city before the Canadian border.

In the "mild surprise" category:

Georgia Tech loses in overtime, 67-60, to North Carolina. It's GT's second straight upset loss at home.

UT Martin loses its first conference game to Eastern Illinois. The Skyhawks squandered an 11-point lead in the 3rd quarter.

MTSU lost 78-60 at Louisiana Tech.

DePaul cruising, up 22-10 early over 'Nova.

South Dakota up 23-2 to start against Purdue-Ft. Wayne.

South Dakota is mollywhopping IPFW 52-10 at the half

Elon and Drexel are going into overtime... tied up at 49-49

DePaul stretching out their lead 68-52 nearing end of Q3.

Wild comeback in the Missouri Valley. Valaparaiso trailed Loyola Chicago by 12 with 3:45 to play and by 6 with a minute left, but then scored 10 points in the last 52 seconds to win.

Elsewhere in the MVC, surprising Bradley looks to remain undefeated, currently leading Northern Iowa by 14 in 3Q. Drake looks to protect its potential at-large bid, leading Illinois State by 6 at end of 3Q.

Elon loses a heartbreaker to Drexel .... 55-53 in OT.

.-.
Army - Navy game today 11AM CBSNN.

My Aggies fall at home to Bethune Cookman 69-58

My Spartans fall for the first time in the SOCON on the road at Wofford. The Mighty Terriers battle back from down 13 at the half... 66-61. :(

Now my Panthers start play vs Hampton....... does Guilford County go 0-3 this afternoon???

Is Foy out for the season?

Listening to the these Hampton announcers, they are certainly an excitable pair. You would actually think they are HPU announcers at times based on their reaction to some of the plays :p

.-.
Kansas State had a huge 3rd quarter (28-16) to separate from Oklahoma, now up by 16 with 10:00 to play.

Oklahoma continues to be up and down.
Kansas State is much improved since November, when they lost to UT Arlington and Memphis.

It must be my imagination, but it seems like every Boise St. game is at home. They definitely aren't the same as last year, dropped a close one to Fresno St. to fall to 5-3 in conference. Fresno St. is undefeated, staying ahead of San Jose St. I didn't have any kind of a feel for the Mountain West before the season started, but I certainly wouldn't have picked FSU and SJSU as the top 2 teams.

Gonzaga up 35-26 over LMU at halftime, trying to stay undefeated in WCC.

I'm enjoying this commentary a lot :) These guys are really into it

Guilford County escapes getting swept. HPU (My panthers) come out with a hard fought win at Hampton 81-77. Dont look now, but they are tied for second place (with 3 other teams)

They sound like they are college students. I think they had different announcers the last time I watched them at home.

Some other notable results from today:
  • Iowa State dominates (yes, I said it :) ) Kansas, 89-67.
  • UCF dominated (yes, I said it again :) ) Memphis, 82-66. Kay Kay Wright had 21 points and 12 assists.
  • Houston came from behind in 4Q to send it to OT and then beat Wichita State.
  • Central Michigan once again comes up big in the clutch, outscores Toledo 21-10 in 4Q to win 73-66 and stay undefeated in the MAC.

Just peeked in on the Fordham at Dayton game on ESPNU. HOLLY is game analyst. Oh, Dayton is up 22-10 at the half.

Convinced me. Got to hear this until the LSU/TN game
I was watching the Texas - Oklahoma State game replay prior to this, wasn't a very exciting game even though I enjoy listening to the Big 12 announcing team.

30 seconds is all I could take, Head bang

Does the gym at Providence even hold 2000. Flipped over to that game and that place is tiny.

South Dakota is actually in a ball game, up 37-30 at the half against Oral Roberts.
