Game thread

Take Samuelson out at this point. No sense in her risking future injury in a game UConn has no chance of winning.

Lets face it, Notre Dame came into Hartford and so far are playing a much better game then UConn. They are out hustling UConn for all the loose balls and controlling the glass. It shouldn't be happening but so far it is. Game is not over, but I don't see this team making a comeback to win it. Don't see the fight in this team, especially on Defense.

I do wish the Geno would put Gabby back into the Game, unless she has an injury.

.-.
This may be one of the most disappointing efforts I have seen from a UConn team. This team has issues.

Baskets in the Paint after 3
Notre Dame 4 + 10 + 5 = 19
UConn 4 + 3 + 3 =10

I would say things are not looking good.

UConn is not typically a great comeback team, and they haven't shown much spark that suggests they have a run in them.

That was a big swing, Arike missed a breakaway layup, Katie Lou fouled on the rebound and hit 2 FT. Would've been a 12 point margin, instead 8.

Geno's message could have short term negative results but long term positive results.

Somebody for UConn is going to have to step up and put the team on their back.

Crystal did just enough to put Arike off that layup. May end up being a huge play. 4 point swing, essentially

Last year they were a well oiled machine. Haven't been nearly as crisp on offense so far this year. The defense has made up for it so far but ND is handling it today.

No question that ND is the better team, not only tonight, but at this point in the season. Geno will has a feast to pick on from here on to the Dance. Defensive rebounding, pick and roll responsibilities, pace in the offensive zone, covering the perimeter, TO's, lack of urgency, working harder to get open. The list goes on and on. Good for ND. They came to play without excuses and they gave it to UConn good.

They are saggin off Gabby when she has the ball at the free throw line, clogging the paint, and giving her that shot. She is not money with that jumpshot and is not showing any defense. So she’s on the bench

Gabby on the bench reminds me of when Jim Calhoun took out all of his starters in a game in which they were getting outhustled. His bench players came within 6 points of winning I think. Sometimes you have to bench people, take a loss and prove a point.

Which poster said Lou should come out in a game they're going to lose? On the money.

.-.
Is Geno done making his point w/ Gabby or is she done for the day?
I think that he is making a point. She may be done for the day.
Geno doesn't care about being undefeated. He cares about hoisting a trophy.
I would rather lose one and be the National champions than not correct what needs to be corrected and lose when it matters the most.
