So now watch the dude im buying our tickets from tell me to go scratch ... FML

My first reaction ... this is just Stupid.

Two days they can re-deploy & find a far better staging area. Many, many people make plans far in advance for a BCS/FBS game. The damage & turmoil caused by the storm shouldn't be underestimated; but, this is just evidence of the small-minded & lack of can-do spirit. This is just an Insurance State special.

There go my plans for later this week. Labor Day Party this Saturday in Rhode Island. It's also a surprise Birthday Party for certain members of the wife's family. I'm cooked.

Lets just hope it gets rescheduled I already have travel plans specifically for the game and am obligated to visit mine and my gfs family inbetween. Now its just going to be a weekend of hell.

Moving the game to Saturday is bad. Canceling it would be a horrible for the team and the fans. Anyone know what the National Guard is distributing?

guarantee that wouldn't be your reaction if you were one of the people the NG was helping

If Hathaway is still the AD this game is played.

Guaranteed. And thus my disclaimer.

But ... I am pretty certain that this would NOT be the case for any other BCS program. There are only 6 BCS football games; there are lots of big field in that State.

This is BS. The rent is being used as a staging area to hand out food and water. I haven't seen anything on the news indicating that there is a lack of food and water in this state because of the storm. And shouldn't the darn staging area be closer to the shore where most hurricane damage occurs? They prepped for a disaster that didn't happen and now they can't move their equipment out of the way.

That was funny W. Useless, but funny.

1. The cleanup is of far higher priority than the football game. If the Rent and surrounding areas are being used for relief, and/or power outages in East Hartford make it impossible to get 40k people there for a night game, so be it.

2. That having been said, it is absurd that we're 48 hours from kickoff for a storm that was done 48 hours ago and all we have is a rumor, just out, as opposed to prior statements that this is a possibility.

3. It is critical that the game be played. UConn can't just lose what, $2 to $3M or so, from its budget at the start of a school year, and UConn can't lose one win that this year absolutely could be critical towards bowl eligibility. They need to play the game. If they need to play it Saturday, or even Sunday, in front of empty seats, so be it. But they need to play the game. And let's be honest -- this isn't Vermont. There doesn't seem to be any rational reason why by Sunday the Rent couldn't be available (although, as I said, efforts to help those who are struggling with recovery is more important.)
