I'd like to think that this clinched a first team AA for her. And, by the way, who were those people in another thread who said Azure might replace Gabby in the starting lineup next year? This was one of the greatest performances I've ever seen in women's basketball.

Thats gonna be insane having Azura, and Megan Walker off the bench. I could see Geno bringing Gabby off the bench for a game to experiment, he had his whole starting lineup come off the bench last year.

The energy she plays with now is on another level than just about anyone I can remember in the women's game, ever.

Yes! As witnessed by her effort--and elevation--late in the game, when most mortals would have been exhausted. Her conditioning is exemplary.

As transcendently great as Gabby is, she's very, very fortunate to have found her way to UConn. What other coaching staff could have given her the same amount of structure and freedom simultaneously?

Rest assured she knows this. In a post game interview, she said (I paraphrase) " This is a very special program. I am very fortunate to be here"

Interesting thought experiment. I bet Gabby would have physically survived Holly in general because she has an internal motor and intensity that even Holly cant screw up and she can overwhelm in just about any system (or lack of it). However, could you imagine how frustrated she would be with her teammates up and down and often uninspired (to say the least) play. Probably rush to transfer or go to the Olympic trials

I think Gabby is David Thompson in the making. He was an incredible jumper who added a nice jumper later in his college career.

That's a wonderful problem for the head coach to have. Just when the other team has seen more than enough of the Uconn starters, Gabby or Z comes off the bench to add another unguardable player to the mix.

Geno noted that on timelines UCONN stands at approximately the same spot as UCLA did in the men's game in the 60s and 70s. Another parallel for me is that Gabby has so much with David Thompson in her game. She simply jumps/leaps in a way that other players can't and it touches every part of her game.

I know you're tongue in cheek here but I bet Holly and a whole bunch of coaches would have looked at size and had her on the bench because of what she couldn't do (shoot outside). Instead of playing her because of what she could do (everything else).

Gabby plays with the heart of a lion. Taking a sport illustrated quote about Lou Brock, she has lighting in her feet and larceny in her heart. So happy for her, and what a game she played.

Delighted to see that the replay is already posted, at least on The Boneyard, especially since so many of us missed a lot of the first half. Every minute is included. I invite all my friends here to watch it, and then return here to list (I really encourage this) all the players in WCBB they would proclaim more viable options for the Most Valuable Player in the Country than Gabby Williams. Can't wait to see the list.

I'm a men's board poster and have only seen the women's team play a few times this year. Needed to come over to start a Gabby thread. Each time I've watched the women's team she immediately jumps out to me as the best player out there. She is a freak athlete in the Durant Lebron mold for the women'e game. She is already better since the last time I saw her and she is still just scratching the surface. I don't know all the players in the women's game but my guess is there isn't anyone better than her in the country. She will be one of the best to ever lace them up for the women's team. Congrats to Geno and the girls on 100 straight, really fun team to watch. I enjoy watching this group more than any other women's team I can remember.

But they're cut out of the same pattern
Davis is not having the sort of year she's had which is too bad
Very likable and skillful player
