Watching some WBB shows with Geno and his 1995 team. Funny story how the women’s and men’s team chartered together to Kansas. The women won but the men lost. So the women couldn’t celebrate on the charter home, since the men lost. The last time the two teams chartered together LOL. Thinking of Calhoun on the charter home.

I was in Kemper Arena. I think UConn was #2 coming in and got their ass kicked. Not much fun for me. KU women’s team was not good. perhaps the funny part is this. Roy didn’t let the KU women practice on the AFH court. They played games there, didn’t practice there. We KU law students did play there once a year vs Washburn.

Great story, @Chief00, appreciate you sharing. Can only imagine Calhoun’s face! Yikes! Geno must’ve spent the flight working on a new steak pizzaiola recipe to keep from laughing.
Exactly, if Chief has to explain this obvious dynamic to some of the beloved Casual Fans posting, it would no longer be funny. If you get the Calhoun/Geno dynamic, you see the humor in this.

A long, you could hear a pin drop, flight home.

How the hell do the players fit in a coach (pun intended) seat? Do they give each player two seats?

Good question, I don’t know. The women’s team was in the back of the plane. They also had some donors onboard.

I had a friend who was a big annual donor. For years I went to the games with him and sat behind the bench. You know you're with a big donor when Lew Perkins dropped by most games and offered to do a snack bar run for us if we were hungry.

One day my friend was all excited, saying he was invited to the Georgetown away game. Flew and stayed with the team.

"And it's all free!"

I guess if five figure annual donations for decades counts, it wasn't free.

Sounds like the "free" rooms you get at a casino....but at least in this case you want the house to do well. Also, a good friend to have. Kind of like how it's better to have a friend with the boat than owning the boat.

I'm surprised how easy it was to game comps at MGM. I'd go to the cage and get $500 in chips, the buy in for a few hundred. I'd hit the head and when I got back to the table I pulled out more chips.

On most days Id color out for the $1k+, and they'd record a few hundred in winnings. I did this for months, and started getting comp room, a trip to Vegas, tickets, etc. I was up a little after a year, but they thought and still think I'm up tens of thousands. I got to know a pit boss well. She said most don't care because it's not their money, and a few hundred a day isn't on anyone's radar.

Who is injured for the KU game?

I once boarded a flight in Minneapolis. While waiting to get on. We saw the people getting off, it was the Vikings. Airline people said it would be a bit of a wait, because they basically take things apart. Seatbelts, armrests, etc, those big guys get two seats or more. It was still a mess when they let us board.

Interesting. I always thought they looked at size of bet and length of play not stack size

They do. But when you color out it is also recorded. This is one month, and I was actually even for the month.

Swimming pool, hot tub, beach house, lake house, Manhattan apartment, pool table...

Swimming pool- yes.
Hot Tub- no.
Beach House- yes.
Lake House- yes.
Boat- triple yes.
Manhattan Apt- push.
Pool Table- yes, with caveat of owner being single or a very understanding SO. And there ought to be a mandatory bar or beer fridge in same room as table.

I can verify that's it's better to live in a lake house than have a friend who does.
Actually, yeah.

That was the one where I most paused, to the point of forgetting what it was like to live year round on a lake for 6 years.

Nowadays, I greatly enjoy my visits to my sister's home in the Finger Lakes, and they moved up there year round after they became empty nesters.

Swap out lake house, and add excellent spa bathtub, which a different sister had. During years when I visited from NYC, did dog care on their vacations, etc., I used that bath much more than anyone else ever did, and continue to miss it.
