Friday's Sweet Sixteen Games

I didn't like that chippy foul late by Osahor. It was just frustration I'm sure, but that's not like her at all, she's better than that.

That really should have been a flagrant. I was surprised they didn't review that.

I can't believe McCowan is only a soph. She could be right there w/ a couple UConn players at the top of the draft board in 2 years.

I think Coach Schaeffer outsmarted himself w/ the whole benching his starters thing he's done the last several games. Started the game in a big hole, they obviously dug out of it but I don't think they can afford to start like that against Baylor (I'm assuming of course). Vivians should've played more. Plum ended up guarding her most of the time and simply couldn't matchup due to the size difference. Vivians fell in love w/ the 3, which she couldn't hit, but otherwise she wreaked havoc. Didn't play all that many minutes though.

I say Plum, this great player who has helped push the appreciation of WCBB into the spotlight this year, should not leave the state of Washington to play her pro ball. Anyone who thinks this young lady isn't deserving of the POY to heck with them.
Her worst game was 21 points. Scoring 20+ points is incredibly hard.
She did it in 35 games. and 17 of those games was over 30 points.

UW didnt get a lot of help from the other 5, 3 starters and 2 subs.
MSU did a great job of making them work.
MSU is a tough team.
Congrats to the "other" Huskies on 2 Wonderful Seasons.

Dillingham did a nice job on Plum defensively. Otherwise she was able to get shots. Had a quiet 2nd quarter but got it going after halftime. Not her best game, but 29 pts. 5 reb 5 assists is pretty good for an off night. Sad to see her career end, it's been so much fun watching play.
Dillingham did okay, but to me the issue in the 1st half was the length Plum saw on switches and inside. It took her some time to make the adjustment.

Didn't think she ever did make the adjustments she had three or four shots blocked in the 4th Q, something that almost never happens to her.

Holmes of Texas "needs out of the game"...she's tired?

We are less than 6 minutes into the game lol.

Holy smoke. 3:50 left in the first and Holmes looks gassed. Texas has no answer for McCall inside.

Texas calls a TO because Holmes is over breathing. Quick. Get that lady a paper bag.

So far TX has run absolutely no offensive sets - never challenged inside just hoisted up perimeter jump shots. Either Aston reads the riot act, or my suspicion that she is not a good game coach is confirmed.

Aston subs for Holmes. Announcers say SHE ASKED TO COME OUT.

So far Holmes in limited minutes has been a liability for Texas on offense and defense.

By then she was tired and pressing. As I said earlier this year Washington was a mediocre team with a very good player holding them up.

For the first time tonight Holmes got good position then demanded the ball inside. Before this it looked like going inside seemed too much effort for her.

Is this regional in Lexington or Denver?

It's a women's basketball game. Starting at 9:30. In Kentucky.
The odds of good attendance were not high.

Throw in teams from 1000+ miles away, and it's doomed.

I still have grave doubts about Holmes' conditioning. Doubts I raised during their game with UConn. Still, Texas won the half period on their superior guard play, decision making and their bench.

I do have to say though she looks significantly and I do mean significantly better than Cox.

Man so right. Over the course of the season her and Jessica Shepard ate KFC out of options.

The attendance at these regional games are visibly AWFUL.

All these programs up and coming with good fan support (South Carolina, Oregon St and Oregon, Washington, Mississippi State,) and none of their states bid? Did their AD's encourage an area city to bid?

Meanwhile Louisville trying to get back into the game. Down 41-31 with 1:22 in the half.

Putting Baylor in OK sure seems to have raise the attendance level (sarcasm!)
I think they average just over 6k a game at home and I believe they didn't get the support they thought they would get in the Dallas Regional last year. It was basically the same around 6k... figured it would be closer to 8-10k.

The bidding was four or five years ago. And with NC and SC and a few other 'red states' doing their best to pass discriminatory laws, there are going to be issues about NCAA bids in the future for some hot beds of WCBB. It may start affecting scheduling for at least some state schools as well.
