Friday's Sweet Sixteen Games

Aston subs for Holmes. Announcers say SHE ASKED TO COME OUT.

So far Holmes in limited minutes has been a liability for Texas on offense and defense.

Didn't think she ever did make the adjustments she had three or four shots blocked in the 4th Q, something that almost never happens to her.
By then she was tired and pressing. As I said earlier this year Washington was a mediocre team with a very good player holding them up.

For the first time tonight Holmes got good position then demanded the ball inside. Before this it looked like going inside seemed too much effort for her.

Is this regional in Lexington or Denver?

It's a women's basketball game. Starting at 9:30. In Kentucky.
The odds of good attendance were not high.

Throw in teams from 1000+ miles away, and it's doomed.

I still have grave doubts about Holmes' conditioning. Doubts I raised during their game with UConn. Still, Texas won the half period on their superior guard play, decision making and their bench.

I do have to say though she looks significantly and I do mean significantly better than Cox.

Man so right. Over the course of the season her and Jessica Shepard ate KFC out of options.

The attendance at these regional games are visibly AWFUL.

All these programs up and coming with good fan support (South Carolina, Oregon St and Oregon, Washington, Mississippi State,) and none of their states bid? Did their AD's encourage an area city to bid?

Meanwhile Louisville trying to get back into the game. Down 41-31 with 1:22 in the half.

Putting Baylor in OK sure seems to have raise the attendance level (sarcasm!)
I think they average just over 6k a game at home and I believe they didn't get the support they thought they would get in the Dallas Regional last year. It was basically the same around 6k... figured it would be closer to 8-10k.

The bidding was four or five years ago. And with NC and SC and a few other 'red states' doing their best to pass discriminatory laws, there are going to be issues about NCAA bids in the future for some hot beds of WCBB. It may start affecting scheduling for at least some state schools as well.

not gonna happen
I agree. I thought Baylor would win by 25-35 against these guys. But if they can push them to under 20 it will just support my belief that UConn has improved more over the course of the year than Baylor. Even a 25 point win would support my belief since I believe Louisville wouldn't get within 35 of UConn.

Meanwhile the Bridgeport SS is sold out. Good time to put the SS elsewhere next year.

Texas still playing an offense with Holmes on the perimeter the majority of the time.

Holmes should be setting up camp inside all game. Stanford has no real answer for her athleticism.
