Friday NCAAT games

Final from Austin: NCState 62 Auburn 48. Fewest points ever scored by Auburn in an NCAAT game. Dominique Wilson had 23 points for NCState, which pulled its starters for most of the 4th quarter. Auburn did finish the game on a 19-4 run when NCState played mostly bench players.

This was NCState's first NCAAT victory since our Sweet 16 run back in 2007 and the first NCAAT win outside of Raleigh since 1999.

New program record FT performance by NCState, which went 15 of 15 from the FT line. The previous record was 14 of 14 against Pittsburgh on February 5, 2015.

We now await the winner of Texas and Central Arkansas Sunday afternoon.

Well, other than in Lake Wobegon, not all the conferences can overperform every year. The SEC overperforms some years; under others - those in all cases, it's a fairly mild over/under performance.

Bottom line, it hardly is a regular severe poor performance as you seemed to suggest.
Potaatoe. And I never said their under performance was severe. A 25 point and a one point loss are still losses.

I want to see how WVA handles the tourney pressure in the 1st half and how well they settle in.

Elon starts out by playing Martin tight on the perimeter. Elon also comes out playing M2M.

Elon playing well as a team beating WVA twice on hard backdoor cuts. WVA calls a TO down 8-5.

.-.
I'm a bit torn because I'd love to see underdog Elon do well, but I feel like WV has a much better chance of beating Maryland.

OSU meanwhile playing like garbage. Up by one against WKU 22-21 at 6:20 in the 2nd. OSU looks typically undisciplined, un-poised and poorly coached taking poor shots with 10 TO's. Now piling up the fouls.

Announcers in the Western Ky.-Ohio St. game saying that Kelsey Mitchell "seems content to be more of a facilitator" today. If that's the strategy, I find it a little odd. She has 1 point so far, and Ohio St. leads 22-21, 5:40 left in the 2nd. Lexington crowd solidly behind the Hilltoppers, unsurprisingly.

It's WVU up 28-27 at the half.

Elon is a well-coached team but I agree they don't have the talent to hang with Maryland.

T. Brown for WKU just committed an walk in the open floor with no defenders near, low bridged a forward under the defensive basket for a foul, and then fouled her man before the shot for her 3rd Where is this lady's head? Finally pulled.

Right now WKU has no answer for Hart. Meanwhile WKU has gone cold.

.-.
Hart now everywhere blocking a shot. Lady's come to play. One FT form Mitchell so far (?!?!)

WVa so far looks lost in the NCAA healights, up 30-29.

My son, who is there, says Elon is outplaying WVU but shooting badly. If they could make shots, would have a big lead.

Elon just re-took the lead on WVU and then forced a turnover.

Damn gotta hit the trail. Fortunately I record everything. Catch up with y'all later.

Elon just catch WVa again on the backdoor, 49-48. Gotta go.

The Conway Terror's shall tear up those long horns easily----I won't predict the score but it will be large. Make Pu Lask key count proud.

Kentucky who beat Elon, 73-60, gets to play Ohio State who beat West Kentucky, 70-63. Neither team impresses me, but I think Ohio State will win.

Ohio State played like it was Saturday night at the Y. Unless they shoot a very high percentage
as they did against Maryland, they won't be able to beat a good team.

Love hearing Mary Murphy on the call of the Oregon St-LBSU game.

Oh dang it, they're switching to the South Carolina-UNC Asheville game. UNC-A is the fourth #16 seed in the tournament. SC should beat them by 50, with or without Coates.

.-.
Uh oh Oregon St. Shooting 50% from the floor, have a huge rebounding advantage, holding their opponent to 30% shooting...yet trailing by 4? 9-1 disadvantage in the turnover department, that's been their achilles heel.

also LBSU is hitting 3's and OSU isn't apparently

Long Beach State is giving Oregon St all they can handle, up 24-23 midway through 2Q. In fact, this is exactly how they beat South Florida. Pressure defense and creating turnovers. And Syd Wiese just went to the bench with her 2nd foul.

Whoa. LBSU just hit another 3 and puts them up by 27-23. Timeout OSU.

Man that Stockton region. All this talk about Maryland whining, I can't believe Dawn Staley complained about that region.

The numbers tell you Oregon State is better than Maryland.

Depends on which numbers you use. The computer formulas (Sagarin & Massey) sure don't.

Yup and because women's basketball has to be like men's basketball the committee uses RPI/SOS to determine who is truly good or not. When in reality you can't do that in this sport.
