How did Hurley and co whiff so badly on Nowell? Obviously going for an undersized PG was probably not the greatest idea in hindsight, but what did they see in him that they thought could make up for his size deficiency?

I think there were a couple of things that led to Nowell's downfall at UConn. He seemed to struggle picking up the complexity of the offensive and defensive schemes. It was obvious that he had no clue what he was doing on defense, even as the team got into Big East play. I also got the feeling that someone in his camp was coaching him to do things that the UConn staff wasn't happy with. I remember seeing some of his high school highlights where he liked to dribble the ball for 15 - 20 seconds before breaking down the defender and getting an open look or layup. That didn't work at this level.
I find it really hard to listen to Matt Schonvisky with his long pauses between sentences. It's excruciating. I didn't love Mark Zanetto either but I think I preferred his style to Matt. On the positive side I like Rob Dauster from Field of 68. I also like the guys from Sleepers Media, Carter Elliot and Greg Waddell. They aren't UConn fans per se but they respect UConn and Hurley.
Great question as he did not do well at all at VCU. There are plenty of undersized guards with Sears from Bama or Cadeau coming to mind doing well at college level. Watching his high school videos he could muscle thru less physically developed kids which did not translate to college at all.
MS is a non listen. He exudes nothing that feels like sports radio. Zanetto has gotten better, often has guests. I don't listen often but when I do, he's alright these days. Has a bro-like operating model. But he's not at least putting his lips 10 inches up Hurley's butt nonstop. The Nova guy he has on has a hysterically forced radio voice. I can't tell whether I like it or not, and if it's real or not.

Sleepers is definitely B1G fans. I like that they are open about it but still show lots of respect for UConn and Hurley even if they are in a sense rooting against us. I just find them entertaining to listen to, unlike Locked On UConn. I only tune in to Sleepers when they are talking about UConn.

I agree with everything you said except Greg from sleepers. He’s very biased against UConn and it clouds his judgement about our team .
If we're just talking about measurables (height, wingspan, vertical leap) he's actually very comparable to D Wade and Donovan Mitchell.

They must be desperate to offer more money to a guy who doesn't want to be there. Not a good look for a blue blood. Imagine Reibe was getting recruited heavy by Duke and we tried to entice him back with a bigger offer. I can't see Hurley doing that but maybe Scheyer is different.
