Freeman possible visiting friday

I would think County would be the backup PG. It would be good to groom him in that role with Demary leaving the year after. Ball is not a PG in any sense even as a backup.
Maybe. But we can't just have that. Have to at least get a Millender type as well. Mullins would be a better PG than Ball. Ball just isn't a passer. If County shows he can do it, that would be a huge benefit for 2027, having a big PG we can plug in when Silas is gone.

I don't mind a Millender type but we can get that later. I think we need to start grooming some of these younger players who aren't as highly recruited to start playing backup roles so they can mature with the team into starting roles. I know we didn't do that with Stewart or Ross but that is because we kept getting higher recruits for those positions as Freshmen.

Freeman seems to have a lot of talent but idk, I get the vibe he doesnt have the making of a UConn player mentally and drive wise. literally just based off vibes, not sure if thats even true
Gladly will take my victory lap from earlier in week. told yall he wasnt a UConn type of guy

I'm not Zanetto fan, but he's miles better than this new guy. Did this new guy compare Solo to Westbrook? RME.
Good to know. I haven't listened since Zanetto...

Yes, in the last 2 episodes when I was trying to get portal info. The new host compared Solo to Westbrook...

Physically I get it... Solo looks to be a similar physical specimen as an athlete. But in real practice and 3 years of using our own eyes, that comparison was wild!

A high percentage of those younger players defect for more money and time. It's a risky proposition that Uconn is not immune to.

Yeah, Solo looks the part visually and his online measurements suggest explosiveness (they can't be true), but he severely lacks twitchiness, acceleration and explosion. Westbrook was DPOY in the P12 I believe. In no world is Solo ever winning a defensive award.

The locked on guy annoys the bejesus out of me.

Feels like we got our guy to commit while he visited and will let him announce at his pace, The fact that Freeman didn't commit to Kentucky and will visit Alabama is just frosting on the cake.

You can take a grueling AP class with a master teacher who is going to make you a better student and prepare you for whatever comes next. Or you can just take a study hall and goof off (in this case for a fat paycheck thrown in).

Keep in mind he has foot problems so cash now might be a good option.

Plus, Alabama might be a good way to get a little of both.

After the Nowell disaster I don't think Hurley will ever trust a freshman PG to be the backup point. At least have a third, veteran PG. Especially since County seems like a combo guard more than a true point guard.

he may have canceled his visit because he's already decided on UConn. He wants to visit a few other schools just to make sure.

I'm not sure he even fully trusted Nowell prior to filling out the roster.

I'm very confident that the plan was for Mahaney to start, Diarra getting some time as the backup (often with Mahaney moving to two guard) and Nowell working his way into rotation minutes to hopefully take over as a sophomore.

Needless to say, things didn't work out as anticipated.

According my sources, we backed off Freeman because the staff received video of him going 0-4 with 4Ks and missing two outfield flies in an intramural softball game at Syracuse this past year. He just wasn't going to cut it for the annual UConn Basketball softball game and word is that NK has a prototypical beer-league softball swing and is expected to be a ringer on Hurley's team this year! 😀
