I only got to see parts of the game, but the few plays I saw at the end, I was scratching my head as to why their 3rd string PG was taking any shots down the stretch. The play late when he drove the lane and got snuffed out, I couldn't figure out why he wasn't looking to kick it to someone. I'd have to take a closer look but it seems that UNC should have spread the floor and drive the players that were being zoned into the pain while running some sort of play to get their shooters to move to open spots ready to receive the ball. It wasn't like KU was letting guys get clear looks at the basket once they got into the paint. They were closing in on the plays I saw and somehow the Heels should have been able to free at least one of their scorers in those situations.
It definitely sounds like Roy and his staff completely failed to make any adjustments to counter what Self was doing, especially based on what both coaches said. Now setting that aside, I'm sure it's not easy to teach young players on the fly to do something they haven't done all season, but that's what it takes to survive and advance.
