Yep Porter did have to catch it one handed off of or behind the defenders back, so it wasn't placed that well...
He was at the back of the end zone so there was really no room over the top... Maybe he could've thrown earlier but it was really just an athletic play against good coverage... You need that sometimes and we haven't had a lot of it

We'll have our choice of Bowl games and an outside shot at the Playoffs if we run the table. Let's go!
We lost to Duke, got obliterated by Maryland and all decent bowl slots are committed to particular conferences. So, in a word, no.

That having been said, we’re obviously a significantly better team than we were last year. Let’s beat Buffalo and Temple at home and go on from there.

Good result.

FAU is totally a dog467t team. Bottom 10 basically. I expected more from them given the fight they gave MSU. Their win is against FIU. FIU lost to Monmouth this week. That should tell you something.

But the margin of victory is really satisfying. If this had been a close game I would be frustrated.

It was pretty clear from the first couple of series that they were outmatched and not ready to go.

Evers being sloppy with the football again extended the period of time where this game was still competitive.

The O-Line straight up bulldozed guys. The defense was rag-dolling them. And FAU was hapless. Their penalties helped us, their Kick returners running into eachother was Edsall-esque. I actually felt sorry for them at that point.

It was like Randy Edsall was coaching this team via Zoom.

This game was over in the first half. We shut our offense down the minimum and kept scoring. We red lighted Evers from passing (thankfully) and gave them little chance of allowing them a chance back in.

We played three QBs last night. LOL

Great confidence win.

A 34-point win in a pick-em game should have people rethinking the UConn narrative. Follow-up next week and we're a freight train

The one thing that was not Edsall #1 like - was the clutch plays - don’t remember seeing one handed catches in the end zone - 40 yd completions - don’t remember a blow out like this. Don’t remember the smooth, key interceptions.

Edsall liked to get a lead and then using soccer phrase “park the bus.”

We had some very good teams but IMO they were built to get a lead and then protect it. We are running up score and dominating.

This team - while early - looks like a team with more potential than teams we’ve had in the past.

I saw it in the Duke game - this ain’t the UConn that teams are used to… That is good for us.

Impressive...UConn's running game tonight would have beaten Alabama. The OL were throwing (literally) players around and the RBs were elusive. We'll have our choice of Bowl games and an outside shot at the Playoffs if we run the table. Let's go!
The bowl game possibilities will be very limited but that is not important at this point. Landing in basically any bowl will be a good thing.

We have no shot at the playoffs. The G-5 auto bid goes to the best G-5 conference champion so for obvious reasons we cannot make the playoffs through that route.

For a G-5 to get an at large bid, that school would need to be ranked so high (top 5?) that there would be a massive public outcry if they were excluded.

We should be a freight train against the second worst strength of schedule and $1.25M spent in NIL. Now you know why the coaches were giddy with this schedule.

And we deserve to play a schedule like this. Plus it will help us reframe the narrative.

1. The TV feed and announcers were awful.
2. I'm too lazy to invest any energy outside this board.

In the first half, it was other Robinson or Brown who had a first half touchdown and in the back corner of the end zone kneeled and did the sign of the cross. And that drew an unsportmanlike conduct flag. Was there anything else beyond what the crappy TV feed showed that would have drawn that flag. The gesture certainly wasn't towards an FAU player but the TV feed didn't show anything, there was no replay, and announcers didn't mention anything about it.

My only complaints are the lack of fans and the piss poor sound system. It is hard to hear what the penalties were. I had to look at ESPN game log. I suggest that they display the text of called penalties until they fix sound system.
Bingo. The sound system is an embarrassment. It’s like Charlie Brown’s teacher.
You cannot understand anything. The student section looked filled and our giant band helps with the attendance. Great Win regardless.

Right. UConn hasn't had receivers who can win contested 50/50 balls like that in a while. A QB should be able to throw one deep in to one on one coverage and expect good results every once in a while.

Yeah I said FAU was Edsall-esque. Maybe I wasn't clear enough.

Don't get me wrong, I loved it, but it wasn't great execution by Fagnano. He got it close but had the defender been angled a bit differently it was an easily pickable ball.

how was the crowd? reported as 20,000
I thought the crowd was disappointing in numbers (certainly not as many as the opener vs. NC State last year), but, and my wife even mentioned this, there was good energy in the building. Shout out to the students - student section was full for the first half. As noted, many students left in the second half (blowout/Saturday night festivities).

Keep playing like they did last night and the stadium will fill up again. They played well in all three phases of the game. It was exciting and fun to watch. When's the last time someone said that about UConn football?! Sammis did a good job with play calling, especially on the TD pass to Brown out of the backfield. Robinson and Brown are a formidable RB duo. Rosa was in civilian clothes on the sideline, pretty good size cast/wrap on his hand - not sure he's close to returning yet. I thought they could have thrown to Bell more, but then again there were only 15 pass attempts in the entire game. His one catch was electrifying!

I would like to see the team more disciplined re the Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalties. There's a fine line when celebrating, but pretending to cock a shotgun is not ok. I'm sure Mora & Co. will address this.

Couple of Rentschler issues - can they show more than the same 5 games over and over again on the out of town scoreboard? There were 40 some odd games played yesterday! Verizon cell coverage inside the stadium is pathetic. The yellow vest parking attendants are still clueless. Was blessed to obtain tickets 5 rows in back of the UConn bench, but couldn't understand a bloody thing John Tuite was saying on the PA from down there. Other than that, it was a great night for football, and the team didn't disappoint!

I know we wanna see fans stay to the end but to put a positive spin on it, at least they were leaving because we were winning by so much for once instead of the other way around.

I agree with the comment on the sound system. I couldn’t hear a thing 11 rows behind the UCONN bench. And with a small crowd. It was never this bad before.

Great game for me. I had plans to go to Duke game but was sick so swapped airline tickets for FAU game. I was very pleased with my decision.

Game was great except for lost fumble and unsportsmanlike penalties. I sat with a grammar school buddy who I hadn’t seen in 25 years which was nice as well.

My only complaints are the lack of fans and the piss poor sound system. It is hard to hear what the penalties were. I had to look at ESPN game log. I suggest that they display the text of called penalties until they fix sound system.

This was first home game for.me since UMass a few years ago and I am happy I made the trip. Low anxiety game to watch. I just wish that fans including the students would stay until fourth quarter. All and all a great trip. I even managed to eat a few dogs from Blackies.
My wife said the exact same thing last night - there should be a text on the scoreboard of what the ref is saying. Couldn't understand anything being said over the PA really. The sound system is great if your are in the upper bowl or in the parking lot, as the speakers are all attached at the top of the stadium, but you can't make out a thing in the lower bowl.

Great night for the "old guy"! Have you noticed that some of the mid-major football teams have become the same as the mid-major basketball teams. Athletes want to play and going to the power 5 schools and sitting the bench isn't their style so much any more. Plus, the nil $$$$ is somewhat available at smaller schools. Miami of Ohio gave ND a battle. NI knocked them off 2 weeks ago and Buffalo beat them Saturday. UC is much better, but Buffalo is by no means an automatic win. Having said that, hoping for a larger crowd and a W by any score. GO HUSKIES and thanks for your posts...

I was 5 rows in front of you and you really can't understand anything on the PA down there. It was cool to see the MBB team one section over with their Championship trophies!

Good call on the sound system. I just figured my hearing is slowly going bad. Muffled, low volume can’t understand a thing. Also, if you want people in early, stop with horrendous music. Know your paying audience.
