48 points
540 total yards
420 yards rushing
Almost 40 min TOP.

All good.

Here we go.
1. Depth. Murawski out and Wayburn fills in seamlessly at LG. Edwards with a low load so Robinson and Brown each rush for over 150.
2. Defense for first half. 0 points, 2 first down and FAU never made it across midfield.
3. Zero punts.
4. On first possession I think Mora ran 3rd down just to get Freeman an easy FG.
5. Evers much more aggressive with his runs after deciding to pull the ball
6. Announcers were god awful but UConn won and they have the game next week too.
7. Referee crew was even worsterer than the announcers.
8. I will bet the under next week against UB. I expect a slugfest.
9. 2-2 which was where many expected UConn to be but I feel real good about it.
10. So good, there isn't a number 10.
11. Okay. Gotta clean up the PF's.
Not sure I expected UConn to be 2-2. I thought FAU would be a much better team. (Or I underestimated UConn, I’m not sure which. Prob both.)

A step forward when it could easily have been a step back. Rather emphatic actually. Let's see if it can be repeated against a team with better run defense forcing UConn to pass more. The result against Duke suggests UConn can keep improving.

I said before that the RPO will be the centerpiece of this offense and it will be the reason Evers is out QB. He wasn't perfect with it, but it was so effective as the numbers show. That TD pass out of it to Brown, I think that's who it was, was excellent. I think that even teams stacking the box will still struggle if our OLine dominates like it did today and we run the RPO. Evers can keep and pick up yards just as easily as our RB. Someone needs to get that man longer cleats though because the amount of times he slipped was ridiculous. However, he will be forced to throw more and it will be a big test.

Thanks Joe for throwing a TD on your only possession. You just can't let the stupid QB thread die......

The defense was just lights out. McDonald is a beast and has a beautiful INT. The number of open field tackles just made me smile. Barely any missed tackles and the defense just looked so reliable. I think the offense and the long drives helped, but to think of what this D was like three weeks ago against MD to now....wow! It's nice to have a solid D again.

It was such a an awesome feeling to enjoy watching a UConn game and know that it's not a false feeling of happiness because it's a FCS team we're beating. We beat a semi decent team and we beat them soundly. On to Buffalo!

Great work in all 3 phases of the game, including our kicking which will build his confidence. Domination by both lines. And both QBs hit their long ball passes in the few attempts they had to.

A beautiful, beautiful win! And it's clear to me that Coach Mora is the right guy for the program. Every unit continues to improve, and he identified so many difference makers in the transfer portal...

What was Moras quote last winter? I’m going to go out and get 10-12 players who can step in and play, something to that effect? Looks like he did it.

We are seeing the benifits of having an offensive line coach be OC. Sammis did a great job of playing to Evers stengths.

I was impressed with the defense…but the FAU QB obviously was one dimensional and UConn took advantage of that. the 3-3-5 is growing on me.

Evers was similar to Turner and Roberson…but obviously more athletic. I think this is a good confidence booster for him.

I wish we let him throw it a little more. The guy won't become a better passer if he's only ever handing it off.

Great runner. Joe is a better passer. We need to meld them together.
Neither is much of a passer. Both tend to under throw the deep ball and throw wide on outs. But they did what needed to be done tonight.

NIL helped with that.

Announcers said UConn's expects to significantly increase its NIL for next season too.
Benedict in August:

The Huskies raised and spent about $100,000 last season through NIL efforts. This season, the number is up ten-fold, to somewhere between $1-1.25 million.

That is something Benedict was willing to discuss.

“We’re going to double it next year, at least,” he said. “We’re going to pour gas on it. We’re going to win in football. I’m tired of being disrespected as a brand, nationally, because of football. And I get it. But the difference as we sit here today is we have NIL and revenue sharing now. And before, when we were a BCS affiliate with the old Big East, we could recruit differently. When that went away, it really impacted this university in a way that is probably unique because of the location. There are very, very good recruits here. But there are a limited number. And they all go, if you look at the top 10 every year, there’s one thing in common — all of them are going to power [conferences]. Whether NIL and revenue sharing will help us keep some of those kids will be determined, but we can recruit in a totally different way. We have an unbelievable university. We have great facilities. We have great coaches. And we’re going to start providing people with great opportunities in other ways.”

Embarrassingly enough, I have yet see a game, been reading the chat between courses at dinners and other dumb stuff I have had to do, then voraciously sucking up all the observations and convos during the week but…. have been on the board long enough to interpret it all, my take is…

As happy as you all have been with the progress and improvements, there are a myriad of quickly correctable issues that will take us up another notch or two(ie Evers ball security). I can’t believe the difference in comments regarding tackling from MD to FAU!!

We haven’t pitched a perfect game by any stretch, but the foundations are very strong, Go Huskies!

It was a good win and much better than the Merrimack win two weeks ago.

The offensive line did their job in clearing holes throughout the game.
The running backs made people miss and plowed through players when needed.
The defense made tackles and only missed a four or five; some were on FAU's last scoring drive.

Some will complain about Evers not throwing for a lot of yards, but when you have over 400 yards rushing with two backs with over 150 yards each. I will take that and control the clock with over 40 minutes.

Now we need more fans to show up

I didn’t get to watch or listen to the game as I was at a wedding, but I did keep checking the stats and score (and watched the highlights) and was very impressed with how we dominated. It’s so nice to see us winning the games we’re supposed to win and not just squeaking by, either.

FWIW also, I sat next to a BC alum at the reception who was surprised and impressed to hear that UConn almost beat Duke last week and then when he saw the score against FAU.
