The young players are working to get good shots, successfully, but the rhythm on the shots isn't there yet.

There was some good and bad this game. But all in all, no Crystal, no win.

But it wasn't just the young players missing shots in the second half. They lost focus around the rim. Pretty easy to do when you're creaming the other team.

Plenty for Geno to work on. But let's remember, UConn's level of performance is so much higher than every other team because the standards of excellence/ expectations are higher than any other program.

This was the first official game. Its only going to get better.

Well I can't say that I didn't expect to hear the "Not good for WBB" nonsense this season, but I must say that I didn't expect to hear it at the end of the 1st half of the 1st game, courtesy of Seth Greenberg.

Regarding the missed shots, Lou just said they don't have their legs back yet.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

1. Starters Missed too many easy shots.
2. The benches did not play aggressively... not just passing the ball you need to score,
But I am still very happy for the first game.

If you aren't counting Z and Megan, I guess #2 is correct. But Z and Megan were both aggressive and scored.

Like a bunch of lemmings. Once it’s said, they all say the same damn thing. No originality.

The 2nd half was mediocre effort and not fun to watch. Shots spun out and the defensive intensity dropped.

But I'm not worried.

Things to work on: offensive spacing, layups, free throws.

MIA: Napheesa. For some reason she stayed outside for much of the game. Took few shots (3 from long range) and had few rebounds. Geno said she has been nursing a "sore" foot, so maybe that's the explanation. At any rate the inside game was absent. All the Huskies seemed to do was hoist up 3s. UConn outrebounded for the game and outscored in second half. In the first half the balloon was inflated; in the second, the opposite. Thank God for the D. Lou was very good, Gabby pretty good, Crystal was excellent, Z was OK, and Kia (did she play?). BUT no way to close a game . . . Geno can't be happy.

A comment on Kia's play. Yes she was 1-8, but she also held Stanford's top scorer, Brittany McPhee, to 9 pts on 3-12 shooting.

I'm very happy how this game went. UCONN won in a blowout. A blowout in the 1st half. Offensively two were terrific and Gabby was good - yet still won without a sweat. Very happy.

Not their best game all around. Yet, considering the first game last year, this was incredibly satisfying.
