I would expect them to be suspended at least through the end of the season.

I'm not going to comment on the weed. I don't like it and don't understand why anyone would but to each his own. On the vodka, driving around with it is beyond stupid. Drinking (underage) in your dorm is one thing, operating a vehicle makes it an entirely different issue.
I don' think that's the point he's making. At 19, both booze and weed are illegal. However, booze does become legal at a later point in life. Pot does not. So it is understandable if an underage person can get his hands on it. BTW, Alcohol WAS illegal, without a prescription (just like weed in this state), for a few about 13 years from the late Teens until the early 30's.I find it interesting that you don't like and don't understand cannabis use but seem perfectly fine with getting intoxicated from alcohol. They are both mood altering drugs, the only differences being that cannabis is much less harmful and has been illegal in the past.

Much less harmful is a difficult thing to prove and I am of the opinion that how harmful use of either substance is/can be would need to be viewed on a ca case by case basis.I find it interesting that you don't like and don't understand cannabis use but seem perfectly fine with getting intoxicated from alcohol. But it is not legal at any age.Weed is easier to get than alcohol at 19. Much easier.
1) not true, one of them "could" (but most likely didn't) have a prescription. Weed is not entirely illegal. But it is not legal at any age.
1) I said that earlier. Didn't think I had to rehash (no pun originally intended).1) not true, one of them "could" (but most likely didn't) have a prescription. Weed is not entirely illegal.
2) what does that have to do with your point that "it is understandable if an underage person can get his hands on it." It's easier to get weed than alcohol, whether it's legal or not is unimportant. They're underage anyway.
Part of me agrees. The other part of me hates to see non-violent offenders have their lives potentially ruined. I'd like to know more about the BB gun

I doubt they get more than community service and a fine for the arrest . I doubt this even meets the threshold for having to use your AR. This is just more disappointing than anything else and @Jimmy Serrano is right, fawk RKGS, get some difference makers.Agree, I hope they are lawyered up as at least one could possibly be labeled a felon for life.
Connecticut Weapons Charges - CT Gun Laws & Penalties - Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyer
So now you all know who can hook you up at the next tailgate...4 grams +/- = 1/8 ounce +/- ... $35 +/-
I thought weed was decriminalized.
Come on, Phil.Is this a joke? Who cares about a BB gun? I feel bad for the kids. Hartford Courant publishes an article with your faces on it and the headline "UConn Players Suspended After Weapons Arrests." How many people will actually read the article? Totally unfair headline. No one keeps the orange thing on their BB gun. Man, I hope these kids stay on the team.
Come on, Phil.
I hope things work out for these two, but a BB gun is a BB gun when a 10 year old is shooting Pepsi cans in the back yard.
When you're out bangin' with weed and a bottle, it's not a BB gun. It's a facsimile. It's intimidating if you need it.
When you're a baller, you don't need it. When you're where you should be, doing what you should be, you don't need a gun...BB or not. When the BB gun is in your hand, especially without the orange cap, you're armed and dangerous. You get what you get at that point.
They are lucky. They are still alive to get whatever punishment is coming to them.
It sucks, but it's not some media conspiracy. These are two guys who made stupid, selfish choices. They let the team down. Thug life doesn't play well here.
Their lives won't be ruined. It may be a kick in the ass they need to correct their lives. Besides they haven't played so it is unlikely they were going to play this season anyway. Life lessons.Part of me agrees. The other part of me hates to see non-violent offenders have their lives potentially ruined. I'd like to know more about the BB gun
OK on that...but the point is the same. If it looks like a gun...just so dumb.
Correct but still illegal to be carried in the passenger compartment in CT - may not have been an issue if locked in trunk.
No I agree it's still stupid and illegal but for everyone inferring that it was being used for nefarious purposes since the orange cap was removed is just misinformed.
Bad boys, bad boys
Whatcha gonna do?
Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?
Doesn't sound good.
He was about 330-340 in the preseason.Nothing that most people here didn't do while in college (or, for some, the past few hours). I hope they weren't driving drunk.
But I don't get the gun charge.
EDIT: The kid was too big to fit in the police car, so they had to call for a van? How big is the kid?
I agree. Too much drama about a bb gun and so on.Those are some very poor choices. However, at this point I'm a big believer in innocent until proven guilty.

Ok, but he fit into the car that was pulled over. Not sure why he wouldn't fit in the police car.
