UNC strikes me as a loyal place so I could see them giving him 1 more year.

Plus 5 of their 7th games left do t have winning records. Decent shot they get to 20 wins.

They really are - they’re tiny, play with no force at all. Just a bunch of guards running around taking jumpers.

Cade Tyson may be the biggest portal bust in the country. Kid went from 16ppg to 2. Kind catastrophic portal recruits you got to avoid. He’s got another year too, will be curious what they do with him.

Clemson has some full out goons. Give their coach some credit, me makes a decent pizza with bad sauce and cheese.

They seem to have a lot of short guys. Need to shoot lights out to win and hard to make winning plays to win close games. Give me Newton, Castle and Cam size guys.

JWan Roberts feels like another one of those players that are going for their PhD. Kid is on the Kalk plan.

The one thing about Houston I don’t like is that they aren’t very big. Front court is two 6’8” guys along with a pretty small back court. Nice team, not sure I see as a NC contender, not the same without Shead. A team like StJ does what they do with much bigger athletes.

Baylor win gonna age like spoiled milk. They just aren’t very good.

You beat me to it. It's a tough reality to face, but not all portal recruits work out or will thrive and excel like a Tristen Newton or Cam Spencer. Cade Tyson has been a flat out bust and I remember him being on the top of the portal recruiting rankings.

I have been a big supporter of Aidan Mahaney and I think the kid can play, and I really hate to say it, but I think the coaching staff botched it with him. Thinking they could convert him to a PG almost looks like hubris on their part. I remember seeing him in the handshake line after the Maui games and his facial expression looked like a kid that completely lost his confidence. Even with Hurley and his staff being the #1 coaching staff in the country, IMO, they are not going to get everything 100%. Thank the Basketball Lords Nick Timberlake chose Kansas, whew (wipe sweat from my forehead)-that was a big miss by Hurley and his staff.

Would have loved to been in the room when they were deciding on him. The one thing about the kid is that he feels kinda brittle mentally as he always seems to need reinforcement, looks down. Applaud him for the bravery in making the move, but man he just doesn’t feel like the kind of kid designed for this. Versus a Joey C who just had natural uninhibited shot hunter qualities. I wonder how much of DHs comments around having to coach this team differently has to do with the portal adds.

I stand by the assumption that last years portal cycle was distracted and a little rushed with all the B2B hoopla.

They have a national championship game appearance and a 1 seed in two of his 4 years. That's probably still good enough to get a 5th year.

They had a weird roster issue at center this year. Couldn't get anyone in the portal. if that was Hubert's fault (like he was loyal to Jalen Washington at the expense of better options), then maybe you do let him go. If it was an NIL issue, then it would be difficult for the AD to let him go knowing they failed him.
