Beat Marquette and we should be a lock for 1 seed, though Seth Greeberg said he sees Florida as a 1 seed today
Pearl and rose said the same thing at halftime of the pu vs Creighton game.

I know it was a few months ago but we did beat them.

The Florida love fest is crazy. Their best wins recently are home to Kentucky and home to Bama. How is that significantly better than beating St. John’s homeand at Nova lol
Ain't happening. I often wonder if these guys answer this in a vacuum without considering all constestants. For instance, our guy Wally Sczerbiak went through a listen of 8 teams and put just all of them in the Elite 8 without including the top 2 teams.

Florida is a hot name. We may have lost to Creighton, but they also lost to a pretty meh Auburn team at home.

Michigan vs Arizona would be interesting. That would be a big brawl near the hoop. Jayden Bradley would give Arizona and edge as Cadeau can be a tad inconsistent, but Cadeau can be damn good, too.
Mich ain’t winning anything w Cadeau at the point

Fawning would insist I’m a fan of these teams. I can confidently tell you that I’m not. I appreciate good basketball/roster building, and am interested only as it pertains to understanding their position in UConn’s path, and in the scope of the CBB scene. Understanding their strengths is interesting only as it might be anticipating a prime time fight where you are a fan of one of the fighters. This is a General thread, not an anti everyone but Uconn thread. Maybe we need one of those - talk S against all other teams thread.

There are some quality posters here - gsmooth, aceboon talk openly about the scene in a really cool way. Not sure why breaking down the top of the food chain when you're looking to compete at that level is that hard to stomach.
Dude…..Stop

Alabama just beat Tenn on the road in a game they led for only 24 seconds
Wow, I forgot about that game because it looked like Tennessee was going to win fairly easily.

Florida is very good but I don't think much of the SEC this season in terms of top level teams.

I’m very annoyed I didn’t put money on Bama…I had a good feeling about them being dogs in that game. They obviously didn’t dominate but they certainly covered.

SEC is wayyyyyy overrated this year. FL and then a bunch of 8-10 seeds

I’m not concerned with playing Florida at all. We got them with their guard having a good game.

Florida is Florida, Arkansas has some very good talent, but lacks defense. We'll see if they can turn that on during the tournament.

Florida had some tough loses to Arizona, Duke and us, but they also lost to a meh TCU team on a neutral floor, and at home to Auburn. 2x the losses of us, and we beat them head to head.

And they also have the big wild card negative, which is one of the worst coaches in the game. You can’t discount how bad Calipari is.

Texas Tech up 15 on the road vs Iowa State, important game for the race for the last 1 seed
If UConn doesn’t slip against Marquette nor whoever they have to play in the BE quarters I think that race is likely already over at this point

With Arkansas getting their kicked so far as well as Nova, I am already looking ahead to the late window with Gonzaga at St. Mary's and Santa Barbara on ESPN2 at the same time.

Very disappointing slate of games so far tonight

Grand Canyon at Utah St is another good one

Iowa State at Arizona next. At this point, Arizona is a lock as a 1 so might as well root for them to bury Iowa State.
Figuring out who to root for in these Big 12 cannibalismfests is getting complicated. Don’t want ISU to steal the final 1 seed but if they get buried too deep the door opens for Houston to sneak back into the top 2 seed in the South.

Eh - more worried about Florida TBH. I cannot see how you can f over a 1 seed by giving a 2 seed home games in the second weekend - doesn't sound right to me. The way it's playing out, decent chance we get Florida.

I always love the crowd at St. Mary's whenever they host Gonzaga-they are always loud. My first time seeing this was on 2023 when St. Mary's had a second half comeback to force OT. A freshman on St. Mary's broke out that game and caught fire and the announcer even said "he is that dude". Who was that?........

Aidan Mahaney.

He is on ESPN2 right now playing for Santa Barbara.
