A lot of really good teams this season but there's a substantial drop off from the few elite to the really good.
Yes there is - I like our chances against anyone outside of those top 3, and think we could play even with AZ. Avoiding those three until the F4 would be great, maybe someone stuns one with an A+ game. I'll throw Florida in the mix as well.
He's like if Skip Bayless and Stephen A. were one person.
There's a reason Stephen A is paid millions, lol. Provocative conversation is entertaining.

Vandy has dropped off quite a bit since early in the season when media was asking if Byington could pull off a Cignetti(both JMU coaches) this year in cbb.
Vandy at home is much, much better than Vandy on the road.

A textbook Houston win. Maintain gaudy metrics by beating the ever loving crud out of mediocre teams, grab a couple of decent wins, and it doesn’t matter if you don’t grab any marquee wins. If that’s the reason they get placed ahead of ISU (let alone us) on the S curve something’s seriously screwed up.

Weird - shall we all just kumbaya UConn on a GD thread? Or talk about how really good teams aren't that good?

The fact Mick couldn't figure this kid out makes me question his coaching ability. Dudes like this are hard to come by and are massive difference makers. He ain't Clingan, but he brings a very similar advantage. I heard there was some tampering, but not sure how Underwood let Johnson walk. May has a freak at the 5, 4 and 3.

There is no denying how great Michigan looked in last night's game. Illinois is a damn good team, with some limitations, but good enough to reach a Final Four and Michigan put the belt to their Illinois' ass on their home floor. The thing that is interesting about Michigan is that both Yaxel and Morez are big guys that can dribble fairly well.

Obviously they're trying to ensure that the top team represents them in the Tournament to give the best possible chance of an upset and more credits for the conference, but a 7 round tournament for a 14 team conference is insane.
I have never seen anything like this Sun Belt conference. Big ups to Hey Adrien for showing this yesterday. I have seen some of these mid majors and smaller time conferences now and in years past give some of these top seeds byes and even have the conference tournament at the home court of the #1 seed to protect them and give them the best chance to make the NCAAT. The intention is to put their best team in the NCAAT which gives the conference a chance, like you stated, to win a game or two to get the NCAAT credit(s).

I mean, they're really really good. We know what their strengths are (ridiculous front court), but we know what their backcourt is (turnover prone, can be shut down). They won't be easy to beat, but they're beatable. The way I see it, from a roster perspective them and Duke are 1A, AZ is 1B, we are 1C and Florida is 1D. This is generally what all the predictive analytics are saying other than us being further back, but I think our coaching is what bumps us up.

We shall see. It's looking more and more like that grouping really has more than the rest of the field in winning 6 games. Most of the other teams have distinct flaws.

The thing about 4 of those teams is it feels like they will be hard to surprise beat in the tourney because they can simply outphysical you. Some team can come along and perhaps go on a three point spree, but it seems unlikely. To me, it feels like the year of the powerful front court.

Vegas still has Houston ahead of us, I don't see it. And tend to this our ceiling is similar to Arizona. Michigan and Duke simply have some stuff on their rosters that no one else does.
I hear you but I don’t trust Florida’s backcourt. They’ve been playing better but do you trust them in the tournament? Last year the backcourt they had carried them to the title. Those guys are gone.

Would love to see them play Florida - similar strengths and weaknesses.

Texas Tech up 15 on the road vs Iowa State, important game for the race for the last 1 seed

Michigan vs Arizona would be interesting. That would be a big brawl near the hoop. Jayden Bradley would give Arizona and edge as Cadeau can be a tad inconsistent, but Cadeau can be damn good, too.

AZ is tough with Peat and Burries cooking.
Kansas is helping them out by missing open midrange shots and bunnies. Which leads to fast break scores on the other end. Zona looks like the better team, but IMO this game should be closer than 22.

To a degree, I agree. But, I've seen some tough floaters over pressure that aren't that easy to make, even if they're 5 feet from the bucket they're still tough. They aren't getting easy shots.

KU is being clamped by the AZ size and athleticism.

I don't either, but where they were awful in the first half of the season, they've been decent of late. Let's not forget Fland was an HS AA. Golden is a good coach, a guard in college, and has boosted them up a bit.

Yeah, that would be advantage AZ in the backcourt, advantage UM in the front. As good a Krivas/Peat and the other guy are, they're not Mara/Johnson/Yaxel. Florida actually has a very similar advantage/disadvantage to UM - their FC is not quite as good as UM's.

AZ may be the most balanced team of the big 3 - they have a very good front court and back court. UM has an amazing front court and a meh back court, Duke similar given it's lack of a top flight PG.

Iowa St getting pounded here by TT might be a quick line to the 1 seed. ISU is missing something.

IDK - past Houston team actually did beat just about anyone. They'd mop up on very good B12 teams on the road. This team just isn't as good - I don't think the committee is going to reward them for these blowouts. They're high end resume wins aren't great.

When all is said and done, I think Florida may actually end up being the highest 2 seed. I hope they don't end up in our region.

Kansas trying to make this a game. Only down 7 now. Mostly Peterson (19 of KU's 35 pts)
