Purdue is objectively mid as well
Yeah not a contender. I’ve seen them on the 2 line. Easily the two I’d want. I’ve punted them out of contender for awhile now, along with Nebraska and Vandy. You can’t be that unathletic and win.

The one team I’m keeping an eye on is Arkansas. They have a ton of talent.

I won’t put anything down on it, but I don’t think this URI loss is indicative of SLU not being able to make noise in the tourney. Being in the A10 means that every night is basically an opportunity for a bad loss

Is 23-24 UConn gonna be the new standard for every good team every year?

Its old already.

Win a chip.

Because they won a chip.

Win the chip. Then we can compare.
The guy is comparing roster structure/type. But sure. They’ll be everyone’s favorite, so a nice pressure to put on a team.

Nowell no minutes tonight - him and Abraham total flops. Kid can’t get time in the A10 as a sophomore. What a miss of an entire cycle between HS and portal for us that year. I wonder what the alternatives were at the HS level. Even Pettiford pretty bad this year.

Over under on mid major wins in the tourney this year? I’ll set it at 3. Zags get one or two, then who?

Miami gets 2, zags 1, some random team (Santa Clara? McNeese?) 1

Miami is friggin good at offense.

Not that I care what Zanetto says, but its a compliment also. The Mich team is/has demolished teams. As did we, and we did it in the tournament which is really all that matters. But its cool for other incredible teams to get compared to us as a measuring stick IMO.

UCLA player gets a T. Cronin kicks HIS OWN PLAYER out of the game.

Bruins down 25.

I guess. I just think its a premature comparison. I get it. But they aren't 2024 UConn yet. They havent even won their conference tournament yet.

You don't have to take offense to it. He's just saying their roster looks "bullet proof" because they have Mara. Because otherwise they aren't much like that UConn roster at all. They have bohemeths at the 4 & 3, their 2G is nothing like Cam and their PG is nothing like Newt. Really good, but not UConn 24 good.

Reed and McNeeley were in that cycle, or did you just mean guards?

IIRC there was some early Boogie and Edgecombe interest but nothing happened there in terms of visits. I forget who else.

It wasn't a great PG year for recruits, or for transfers.

Dude, who said I’m offended? This is why I hate engaging with you lmao. I said this ealier in the year when we were comparing our team to 23 and 24 UConn. Was I offended then? I’ve been very consistent. I don’t compare non champions to champions. If they finish the job compare away. You want to compare last years Florida to 24 UConn compare away. But we don’t know if they are bulletproof. We know that 24 UConn was bulletproof. Just a premature comparison imo. The chances they pull off what 24 UConn pulled off are extremely thin. I don’t think it’s a fair comparison to them.

It's also worth noting that for all the talk of Michigan destroying teams this year they are now 14-12 against the spread. They are and should be the favorite, but they are much closer to the field than a runaway favorite despite what people want you to believe

People forget 24 UConn went on a 30-0 run in an elite 8 game and damn near won by 30.

They played the most dominant player of this generation in the tile game and won VERY comfortably.

Like they are a top 5 team of the last 40 years. What they did doesn’t happen. Teams winning games in the regular season shouldn’t garner 24 UConn comparisons. Mara isn’t even Clingan if that’s the comparison lol.

It’s very possible that 24 UConn winds up with 5+ NBA players on the roster(Steph, Cam, Clingan, AK, Tristen) and multiple all stars(Clingan, Castle).

I meant the whole class - McNeeley was a reactive get as we got him late. I often wonder if they had to do it all over again, if they would have gone with Reed given he's not exactly the prototype for the system.

They seem to be one of those teams able to turn it on and off when they want. I wouldn't look at that vs spread stat at all. When there was a purse at play to win big, they slaughtered teams. When they've had prime time matchups on the road, they showed up and then some. That said, they're not UConn 24 - beatable. I think a team with great guard play could be a problem, although not a lot of top teams with crazy good guard duos this year.
