February General CBB Discussion Thread

He said Houston over UM. final 4 for UConn Zona and Purdue even tho that’s 5. elite 8 for Duke. I’ll take it. the nobody said elite 8 for UConn
If the bracket played out per the way some are scoping it right now, chalk, our path:

Navy
UCF
BYU
IOWA ST
MICHIGAN
ARIZONA

That is a guantlet right there. UCF isn't a bad team, just beat TT at home and have been ranked.
Rick was respectful, but if you read between the lines, he's calling out certain Big East programs. He said that the status of the Big East would be a factor in his decision whether to keep coaching at St. John's. He said that every school should commit to $9-$11mm in NIL. He also called out a few programs, including Providence and Georgetown needing to get better (he added that Cooley could do it, but didn't say the same about English).

I didn't take issue with anything he said, including his comments about UConn not being as good as our recent Championship seasons.
He was really complimentary of UConn. Rick is almost transparent to a fault. Not sure why he talked openly about Jackson thinking about his NBA career in season.

MACtion Baby! Eastern Mich which just lost to UMass is beating Akron 52-48 with under 8 to play. will they hold on

He didn’t say NBA, he said pro….Ian Jackson is no NBA player

That was my first thought as well.

That would be awesome by the way.
StJ ratcheting up the D when it matters. StJ is going to roll out a big lineup as they're playing Zubi/Mitchell/Hopkins. Then they play Sellers & Jackson/Darling at the point.

Mitchell will be the best athlete on the floor and he'll probably be chasing Mullins around and making it really difficult for him. AK is going to be able space out Hopkins. I might work the ball into Tarris early to see if he can draw some fouls on Zubi.

This may be a game we really need Solo to step up. I'm expecting Mullins to have a really hard time. They're an interesting matchup, awkward. I'm honestly wondering on defense if we put Silas on Sellers. If we can stunt him, and Tarris can stifle Zubi, they may have a really hard time scoring. I can see them trying to use the Hopkins/AK matchup.

What the hrll happened to Bryce Hopkins?? Guy used to be a beast. He’s awful now. He just missed an uncontested layup at the hoop then got stripped on a drive.

Was hoping DePaul could catch them slipping, need some more breathing room. I blame Seton Hall and Xavier for this.

You could be correct.

I was however talking about an image of Mrs O'Leary's cow kicking a lantern into a pile of hay.

With St John's lack of a true PG, our defense, especially as extended as it was tonight, may be able to give them quite a bit of trouble.

A very interesting matchup.

St Louis is pretty fun to watch, with this being Avila's last year I'd be shocked if Josh Schertz doesn't make another jump

Providence needs to get Schertz.
That's who the Field of 68 guys were naming this guy as well. Unfortunately, for Providence it looks like demand for him will be really high which will result in him being very expensive.
