I see him in the Melo level good. Amazing court awareness.

Could argue the 4 seeds are better than the 3 in this bracket. I'd say collectively, Kansas, TT, BYU, Florida are better than Vandy, MSU, Purdue, Zags. A 2 in the East might not be a terrible thing - obviously this is subject to change.

Kobe is the closest player I can think of and he didn't play in college, so. It just seems effortless, and the defense mostly seems irrelevant. As if he just ignores any one defender and scores over him or blows by him. He needs to distribute better.

The tournament will be fun. I don't think there will be an easy sweet 16 game

He feels diff than Kobe - Kobe was very MJ. DP feels lighter, springier, dude looks like he glides out there. Comp is hard - has a little RayBird in him in how graceful he moves. Based on what I've seen, barring injury, he looks like an NBA all-pro and quick. He has a court awareness that's just different if you watch him off ball.

I could see that in terms of getting buckets ease of scoring although Melo and Peterson do it differently. Melo had more of a presence though IMO, he's a bigger dude and got you 10 rebounds per game.

Allan Houston is the first guy that popped in Mr. French's head and the first guy who popped in my head is Gilbert Arenas. Peterson is an incredible scorer and it comes really easy to him "walking bucket" but it's something I've certainly seen at the college level.

We're all old enough to have watched those two guys mentioned and Wade, Curry, Durant, Melo, Ray Allen, Iverson, Beasley, D Rose, Big Dog, Anthony Edwards, Brandon Roy...

Agreed. I remember when Detroit players were being recruited and Derrick Coleman chose Syracuse while Calhoun landed Lyman Depriest.

Love me DePriest but imagine if Calhoun had landed DC? Clingan would have become DC2

Meh pretty simple, a mediocre basketball school left a conference full of awul, mediocre and two great basketball schools to join a league of awful and mediocre basketball schools.

I get that with Melo - he worked out of the lane more, similar to Dysbantsa. DP is playing off the perimeter. They are different positions. Melo did have more presence, but DP is stealth. Arenas isn't a bad comp, but there is something different about DP in terms of how he sees and sizes up the floor in advance, and then makes small adjustments. His court vision is high level.

Just came to this thread to see if Wagler was being talked about. He's my favorite non-UConn player right now. Reminds me a bit of freshman Jeremy Lamb. I love the kids game, but I think it's also because he looks like a college freshman. I have a college sophomore and Wagler looks like he can be one of his buddies.

Ariz at Ok St on Sat. Next 4 games after that will be interesting. Kansas/TT/BYU/Houston.

Rick was respectful, but if you read between the lines, he's calling out certain Big East programs. He said that the status of the Big East would be a factor in his decision whether to keep coaching at St. John's. He said that every school should commit to $9-$11mm in NIL. He also called out a few programs, including Providence and Georgetown needing to get better (he added that Cooley could do it, but didn't say the same about English).

I didn't take issue with anything he said, including his comments about UConn not being as good as our recent Championship seasons.

If the bracket played out per the way some are scoping it right now, chalk, our path:

Navy
UCF
BYU
IOWA ST
MICHIGAN
ARIZONA

That is a guantlet right there. UCF isn't a bad team, just beat TT at home and have been ranked.

He was really complimentary of UConn. Rick is almost transparent to a fault. Not sure why he talked openly about Jackson thinking about his NBA career in season.
