Favorite Songs From Artists No Longer Alive

Sandy Nelson passed in 2022
Let There Be Drums

Roger Taylor from Queen with a more recent version (should be copied at the timestamp)

Okay, I'm not proud of it, but it is a good pump you up tune. It cursed her with the moniker "One Hit Wonder." She went to school with the wife, who recalls her as totally consumed with achieving singing stardom.

Her dancing skills are marginal but better than Elaine's.

Well, it wouldn't be a music thread without 'somebody' pushing up against the guidelines so I'll be 'that guy', mostly due to the 'favorite song' thing.
Have always liked Olivia Newton John, and she has quite a catalog of songs to choose from but my favorite two are covers.
I think 'Jolene' is a really good song so a duet with Dolly is a pick.

ONJ also covered Gary Wright - My Love Is Alive.
I saw Olivia in concert at the New Haven Coliseum way, way back when and she did this one, so this one also makes my list.
It stuck with me all these years so......
(Apologies for the quality, A/V stuff not so good back in those days)

I'll stand with ya for Laura. If I had thought of it I would have linked it.
Wasn't really much of a disco fan, but have always liked her voice and quite a lot of her songs.

The only reason I was a fan of this song, I remember a movie Irene Cara was in and they played this song a lot.

Just to see how far back you go...She was the "Soldier's Sweetheart" in WWII and this was one of their favs.

Yes, that number was virtually the anthem of the British during WWII and her rendition appears in I don't know how many movies about the war, American and British. A terrible war hung over young men and women as they dated when they could. The song spoke to them with great power.

Jim Steinman - Rock And Roll Dreams Come Through
Any mention of Meat Loaf or Bonnie Tyler should come with a nod to Jim Steinman for his songwriting and contributions.

Wow! That brought a tear. What would this world be like without music.
