Favorite Songs From Artists No Longer Alive

Someone posted a Steve Goodman song earlier- that reminded me of this one, such a talent, gone way too soon:

I haven’t noticed the Who mentioned. Moon died at around 30 and Entwistle in his 50’s, both among the best on their instruments. Here’s a way underrated little ditty from Tommy, which I’ve been known to put on repeat during long runs.

Ah, what the heck. I hesitated to post this one due to I already had a couple of drummer-centric posts but I did think of Keith Moon fairly early on.
Written by Keith Moon and is the B side of my Pinball Wizard 45. (He also gave songwriting credits to Entwistle's and Townsend's dogs)
Dogs Part Two

Gerry Rafferty passed in 2011, Baker Street was probably his most well known hit.
Saw this in the sidebar when looking for a Baker Street clip to post and thought it was a nice tribute to the saxophone that was such a big part of the song.

Well we’ve had later Zappa and middle Zappa, so we might’s well go back to the first album. Mozart had a special affinity for opera, Tom Waits for tin-pan alley, and Zappa for doo-wop. I picked this song partly for that, partly because of Ray Collins’s (RIP) vocals.
