Favorite Somewhat Obscure Husky

Sandy Fishman.
Got about as much playing time as Hurley's son. Actually though, I think he played when a starter got hurt and maybe played in garbage time and not just the last minute of a game.

I'm going to with obscure from a "what could have been" angle. Doug Wrenn. Dude was electricfying and had the look of an absolute superstar at times....but had a $0.05 head.

They asked for obscure. Second choice, Gerry Bilodeau. .

True but his name rarely gets brought up that I’ve seen anyway.

Missy Rose? Meghan Gardler?
Thanks for the Meghan Gardler reference. I was trying to remember her name when someone mentioned pretty blonds earlier. Not sure if she would have made the team if her family didn't have a connection with Geno, but she was, uh, fun to watch.

Maybe Tony Anelauskas is a third choice. These guys were in my freshman dorm together during those Yankee Conference years.

Tony Anelauskas

Position: Forward
6-2, 175lb (188cm, 79kg)
Hometown: Somerville, MA
School: Connecticut (Men)

Neither saw much run.

Two Connecticut kids, 1 semi obscure, the other not so much.
1. Norman Bailey human dunking highlight
2. Scott Burrell

I wonder if Norman and Earl were ever in class together?

Vincente Ithier. I was guarding him in a pick-up game in 1982 or ‘83 and coach Don Perno was watching our run. Afterwards Perno called Vincente over and offered him a walk-on roster spot. That was the year that both Cliff Robinson and Phil Gamble flunked off the team. Vincente actually played PG for much of the Big East schedule, and was kept on for the following season.

Fast forward to the 1988 Olympics. I’m watching a basketball game featuring Puerto Rico against somebody and guess who’s bringing the ball up for PR - Vincente Ithier. So I can say I played ball with an Olympian. :)

Hey Guys,

Let's not forget Willimantic's own Tony Budzinski, our 6'8" center/forward of late 1960's Yankee Conference lore. Helluva guy - got to know him in the Eastern League. Very strong, Hard woker, Tough defender, rebounder & competitor for any era. A very unassuming spirit.
