Favorite Somewhat Obscure Husky

Shout out for Mike Vaughn. Lived on my floor freshman year. We had an octopus. All the freshman (including a football player) were hitting it. None of us could figure out why we weren't getting a hit. Then Mike exhaled....

I was a big Brian Fair fan.
I also was a Brian Fair fan I can recall when he was recruited he was known for his 3-point shooting. Wasn’t he a 4-star recruit as well?

Rudy Johnson

My roomie Andy and I saw a picture of Rudy Johnson in the courant prior to his recruiting visit. The angle of the picture made it look like he would smash his face on the rim. Clearly this made him Bunyan-esque

Then when he committed we would always play "Rudi can't Fail" by The Clash on repeat on our brand new $1000 + new compact disc player when he was on the floor. Doubt he knew who Joe Strummer was, but it worked for us lol

Who is/was your favorite obscure Husky? Mine was Alvin “Skinner” Frederick.
Al could be spectacular. A couple of buddies and I drove to Ohio State for the game when he was on the squad. UConn is down around 10 midway through the second half when Al beats his man for a slam. UConn makes a stop and it's Al with another nice move for a slam to make it 6. Next trip down court, Al with another move for a slam to make it 4 and we have ourselves a ball game! But wait, a late whistle for traveling. There was no travel, it was Big 10 refs saying "Enough of that". That's where I first learned about precision officiating.
