If Haley wants education and closeness to home and a good program and Tara is a legendary coach she will choose Stanford. If Haley wants the best coach in the history of the game coaching her for the next 4 years and play for the best program and have a opportunity to compete for a final four and national championship all 4 years and also get a Good education then it’s a easy choice it’s UCONN. My prediction is it’s down to UCONN and Stanford and it’s 50-50. Will come down to where her heart is. It’s anyone’s guess. I’ve been saying all along Boston is the must get .. UCONN loses out on both then UCONN is in major trouble. Let’s hope UCONN nation will be celebrating come next week!!! Go Huskies!!!!!! Lastly she can’t go wrong with either program...2 hall of fame coaches .. tough decision to make for a teenager.

And liking Stanford’s page isnt any idication, remember Haley is close to the Stanford campus and is very familiar with the program and I’m sure is freinds with the players who committed. Remember the basketball community is very small and a lot of these players played or played against each other in AAU leagues. It’s social media and no one can base a post or a like in a teenagers mind. If it was Stanford all along she would have committed a long time ago. We can all speculate and read into everything but at the end of the day whereever she ends up it will be what it will be. UCONN has lost out on many players we wanted and we have won out on many to... it’s just how the ball bounces.. welcome to the recruiting world of college basketball.

Concur.... because
a. Dorf says it's so
b. We are not 17 or 18 year old women basketball players... We [I'm 60+] may want the sun and nice weather of Calif (i.e., Stanford), but Hayley has "been there, done that"... and who knows, maybe like KLM and KLS she wants to try it on her own away from home, and play for the best program and best coach that still provides a top quality education.
c. It's deja vu all over again... remember last year... 0 commits until really late in the process...and we got #1 and #5... I feel the same angst I felt last year and hope it ends the same way again.

I follow football and basketball recruiting closely. It became even more enjoyable when I detached myself emotionally when desired recruits chose a different school than the one I follow. Anyway, observing the decision making process of talented high school seniors is entertaining. I wish I could say they all follow a pattern. They don't. The kids are so savvy in handling the media scrutiny that sometimes their actions are meant to confuse the obsessed fan bases.

It will be interesting to see if these items were any precursor to Jones' final choice.

1. Her being called Baby UCONN.
2. Bueckers and Fudd making a less than convenient trip to Storrs just to hang out with Boston and Jones.
3. The Oregon paper predicting UCONN.
4. Jones liking the Cardinal commits.
5. Jones revealing that she is announcing on a different day than her classmates.
6. Dorf's apparent inside info.
7. If Stanford is/was the choice, why the wait?
8. Stanford releasing to the press the team's three player commit class. (Props to old dude.)

All of these can be explained in a positive or negative way. I only hope that no matter what Jones and Boston do, it is not overlooked that a really good player in Griffin is in the fold.

Stanford issuing a news release yesterday announcing their 3-player recruiting class. Either that’s all they expect or it was somewhat premature.

I saw that. I assume the Cardinal can always issue another press release if Jones signs with Stanford, but you would think that Tara would have held off on yesterday’s release for a few days if she had a good feeling about the top recruit in the class.

She also played USAB with Brink and played club ball with Jump and Brink. Too many personal relationships to try and read into social media comments and likes.

I got excited when I read your question. Stanford currently has 15 players on scholarship, which is the NCAA limit. They have NLI's from 3 HS seniors. Unfortunately, they graduate 4 seniors. So, yes they have room for one more scholarship on next year's team.

As good as Jones is, 15 players on the team will still impact individual coaching time and PT. Note that one of Stanford's incoming recruits is talented 6"1" Fran Belibi from CO, #23 on Hoopgurlz. Jones is better of course, but she will still have to battle for minutes against another talented wing in her own class if she heads to Stanford, not to mention the 11 returning players from this years team.

As for UConn, while I would be reluctant to say this about most incoming freshmen, I would be surprised if Haley did not crack UConn's starting lineup from Day 1 next season.

I agree she will play as a freshman wherever she goes, but with Lou and Pheesa graduating, I see her starting right away. Not sure that situation exists at Stanford.

I would tend to agree. IMO, all the coaches involved know her decision by now. There's no reason or rush to put out a press release on the class at the end of the first day of signing if you don't know it's complete. From what I've seen in video and this past summer, Jones would immediately become UConn's best defensive player. I realize that's not much of a stretch but she's really talented on that end.

Me too. It's a good bet that Geno mentioned this to her (and her parents) more than once during their face to face conversations during her recent campus visit. She knows UConn will have a glaring opening at the position she plays next year.

She can become a starter early on if she can come in and grasp enough of the program's basics to function (and flow) within the unit. I think it's safe to say that Geno will need both of them to start next year, using his OJT learning format for freshmen.
